Hi. Yes agree with you. Something doesn't sound right to me. The problem is what. The band. The port Slippage. Who knows, and apart from opening you up and looking it seems that guess work is involved.

I'm considering going back to the surgeon and just paying out of pocket. He has a fluro machine right in his fill room. At Kaiser, they have to schedule a fluro room separately so the 3 times I've been there so far, it has not been under fluro. In hindsight, I never should have let Kaiser fool with the band once they made me go there instead of to the surgeon who put the band in, I was vomiting a little bit but should have tried chewing more and eating slower. I probably wouldn't be in this boat now. I was losing then too.

I don't know if others have this issue but my band can be fine for a week and then get irritated and not let much in. I have to ease up and let it reset. And stress seems to cause some irritation. I had an issue with a relative and I was irritated( in many ways) but my band acted up. I don't get many fills after so many years but this band has a mind of its own sometimes. Bottom line. I have to let go.. It is driving this boat sometimes. Not me. Hard for a strong headed ( ok bitchy) woman

Hi Julie,

My band is very reactive to stress. When my stress level goes up, my band with tighten, to the point of being too tight and throwing up at every meal. I went through a period when I wasn't following up with my dr. and when I did it was because I was so miserable. I now know the signs and will gladly pay the $40 copay to get my band where it needs to be.

Awesome job on your weight loss!

Stress does effect the band, when I'm in a rush to get a job done the last thing I do is start to snack. It doesn't need to be a large mouthful of food. It just seems to get stuck.

Booked to have an unfil on Sunday morning can't wait. Do you have to go on soft foods after a unfil???

Hope you're doing better, Andy.

I finally spoke with the PA who filled me and they've decided to do an upper GI on me. He said it was about time anyway because I'm at my one year surgery anniversary. Is it common for bandsters to have an annual upper GI or something? I don't think I've ever had an upper GI before. Before I was allowed to leave the hospital after the surgery, they did stand me in front of an xray machine and made me swallow and they watched the stuff go through the band. Is that an upper GI? Anyway, allegedly I've got 7.4cc in the band and I have absolutely no restriction at all still. It really worries me. I'm hoping nothing slipped and that the inexperienced PA shot the Fluid into my fat instead of into the port! They are supposed to call me to schedule the upper GI so until then, I'm just trying not to gain anything.

Hello sorry to see your having problems. Had a half ml removed last sunday following the two weeks of hell i had. Well the differance is amazing that small change has allowed me to eat again!! however strangely i dont know any restrictions. Ontop of that they think i have a hernia caused by the port. ha ho well get to the end of all of this soon.

Ya know, I am laying on my back when the fills unfills are done, I can't see how many ml/cc are injected or removed. How do we know..? Maybe they think we're crazy, and why argue? Tell us what we want to hear? Lmbo!

Well, in case anyone is still following this thread, I went for my upper GI today. I drank the barium and then once the test was done, the Dr showed me all the pictures he had taken of the barium going right through the band with no resistance at all. It didn't stay in the pouch. I told him I suspected the Physician Asst didn't know what he was doing when he did my fill two weeks ago and that I suspected he put the Fluid inside my fat rather than inside the band. He said there is no problem with my band at all and that it is perfectly placed. No slip or anything like that. He told me he'd send his report to the WL surgeon and that I'd be called back to have the Fluid put back in. In the meantime, I'm trying desperately not to gain what I've lost to date. I just knew there was nothing in there because I have zero restriction right now. I think I will insist that the fill be done by the Dr and not the PA.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
