Gastric sleeve surgery October 23rd with Dr. Quinones

So I've been stalking this site for several months and have done my research. I finally took the next step and put my deposit down and made my flight reservations! I'm a little nervous but, once I've made up my mind there really is no changing it ????. I'm not sure if my DH is going at this time but I have his support and he will probably go with me knowing him. TBH I can't believe I actually took the plunge! Surprisingly enough I'm at peace so I know it was the right decision. I need this for me and my family. I've been overweight most of my adult life and I'm ready to be fit and healthy!! Whether you know it or not you helped me feel confident enough to go down this road. You helped me make my decision. Thank you so much!

I hope everything goes well for you. I'm just getting started... I've been wanting to do surgery for many years but have been overwhelmed with how to get started, what questions to ask, what to expect, etc... Can you please share how you got started? what were your first steps? how did you start communicating with the surgeon you chose and how did that work? How long from when you started until your surgery, etc... any websites or blogs/forums you can recommend, etc.

any info and guidance you can provide is hugely appreciated!

Thanks!

Pam

It was overwhelming for me at first too. I got started on this site and just started reading. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery so I had to find an alternative that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I read about other people's experiences with their surgeons. Read, research and then narrow it down to two or three choices then go with who you're comfortable with in your gut. I kept going back and forth and was afraid to make the wrong choice so I finally just picked one off my short list and it felt right.

By the time I made up my mind I pretty much knew what to expect so I just jumped in with both feet. Here's a link to some questions to ask:

I hope this helps a bit.

I actually contacted the surgeon last week and my surgery is October 23rd so it went pretty fast. I might have been able to have it sooner but that date worked best for my schedule.

Good luck with your search. Ask lots of questions and listen to your gut. ????
