Tight band in the morning - what to eat

Recommended Posts

I have heard several people mention that their band is tight in the morning and they are unable to get much of anything past their band until afternoon. I am experiencing this same thing, and at "certain times" of the month it is so tight that only yogurt type things will go past it. My problem is the yogurt is not filling satisfying me, unless I eat 2 or 3 of them, and I could do that- but don't wanna get burnt out on it at this point in the journey.

Does anyone have any really good food choices that I'm not thinking of, that would pass by my band? I'm getting tired of yogurt and really tired of getting stuck :(

Thanks everyone!

Cottage cheese seems to work well. Maybe, if you mix some with your yogurt, it will fill you up?

I have Greek yogurt mixed with a cup of blueberries every morning. I am a creature of habit, and I can eat the same meals every day, weeks on end. Unfortunately even the Greek yogurt is bit lacking in the Protein department, but it passes through a tight band in the morning with no problems. Once, when I mixed a bunch of my meds (big pills) I did have problems!

I see you were banded several months ago--are you in the "green zone," or do you need more fills?

For me in the mornings I would have a couple of cups of coffee, and then around 10 am I was able to eat something it would be a Protein Bar. I find they are soft enough to not get stuck and they are thick enough to stimulate the band get you chewing and fill you up.

I try to eat at least an egg & a piece of Breakfast meat around 10am, but my fall back is a Protein yogurt smoothee for an extra protein punch.

I think I am in the green zone...though sometimes I wonder...but then I havent figured out if the "hunger" I'm feeling is a head thing more than an I'm really hungry thing. I lost 9lbs last month, crazy thing is, the two weeks after I go to my monthly doctor appointment i fall into this thing that I call "lets sabotage our weight loss progress"...and I don't eat as well as I normally do, sometimes I will gain a pound or two that first week, the second week I'll either lose what I gained or just stay the same......then the last two weeks I somehow lose anywhere from 6-9lbs....I love that I'm losing the weight, but the first two weeks drive me crazy...if I didn't sabotage myself, I could very well lose 10-11 pounds a month. I don't know why I do it, nor do I know why I don't lose anything the first two weeks of the month...even when I don't gain, the scales do not move ??? Is this crazy or what?

Somedays I would like to try just a little bit more in my band, but i have quite a few stuck episodes from not slowing down and chewing well enough, so I'm afraid to try more at this time.

I found myself sabotaging myself also. But then, I was having trouble seeing a thinner me. The weight gain in part, was to be invisible , and I just was not ready for all the attention that loosing weight was creating. Crazy huh? I'm a bit of an introvert, it's sort of like learning to swim, take a big gasping breath of air, then plunge head first back in the water!

I take whey Protein, some fresh fruits and berries, etc, maybe some Peanut Butter with banana, pineapple...you name it...throw it all into a blender with 6-8 oz's of Almond Milk, maybe an ice cube, and Wha-La! Delicious, nutritious and 45 Gm protein....

Been doing that for almost 4 years now.....how much eggs, bacon, Cereal, etc, would it take to equal that?

And it gives me energy all day, with little or no lunch....

As far as flavors, and combinations, leave it up to your imagination...anything goes....

When I was banded I had this problem a lot in the morning. I found that hot tea helped, I'd sip it slow and let my band "warm up". Sometimes it took a couple of hours

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
