I am excited but yet sooooo nervous! I'm so glad my wife and sons are so understanding of my anxiety...it is kicking in to the max! Happy recovery to those that had there sleeve so far this week and good luck and prayers to those that are about to have it!

Being anxious and nervous is okay, we've all been there. The surgery will certainly change your life but trust me...the changes are for the better and you will do well. Don't get frustrated, the first few weeks are difficult but they pass quickly and then it gets pretty darn easy. I love my sleeve and I know you will too. good luck and welcome to a wonderfully healthy life style.

excited - sooooo nervous!

@@poginut

calm down, you have the rest of your life to be nervous :D

its true that your pre-op nerves and excitement and "concern" et al are very common

you will have other types of emotions post op too

but its all good :)

don't know what WLS you are having

if its like me, and you are having the sleeve - that is the best choice :)

but if you are having some other type of WLS - that is the best choice too!

you are starting your new life!!!

that is very exciting!!!

wonderful that you have a good support group via your wife and sons

very helpful :)

did you know that statistics have proved that having WLS on a Friday September 26th, 2014 is the best day of the year to have surgery!!!! ;)

good luck

speedy recovery :)

Good luck to you both on your new life's journey to be healthy and fit and a may your recovery be speedy and smooth ????

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
