My surgery is tomorrow 10/1! I had a lap band 6 years ago and about a year ago started getting acid reflux at night. After I did the wonderful swallow test it was confirmed that my band had slipped. Dr took most of my Fluid out. Still had some acid reflux so new Dr wants to take out lap band and do the sleeve. He plans to do it all tomorrow as long as everything looks good. I am nervous and hope my surgery goes as planned. It helps knowing there is support here!

Note: my Dr says a lot of lap bands have been failing and they have been replacing them. I think it happened after a fill I had and couldn't eat so he took some fluid out.

My surgery date is Oct 29th. I start my two-week liquid diet on Oct 15th. I can have up to 4 Protein shakes a day and 64 oz of Water plus sugar-free popsicles and sugar-free Jello. I'm ready for this to happen! It's taken me a long time to get to this point and I'm so ready for this to happen.

I've already basically cut all soda from my diet and the next step is to cut out carbonation. Right now, I'm drinking sugar-free flavored water, but it's carbonated. That is my next goal before surgery. Cut carbonation. I drink about 3 bottles of Water a day and each is about 32 oz so I can get the water in.

To Karen Allen and AuriP These next 2 days will be the beginning of your new lives. Embrace and always remember where you came from that way you can appreciate the new journey you're about to have. Good Luck and know that a lot of people will be thinking about you and sending prayers.

thats the same pre-op diet they put me on. I needed to stop the sweetness so I added chicken broth which is only 10 kcal for an 8 oz can. To this I can add this unflavored Protein powder I found at the Vitamin shoppe.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
