No restriction all of a sudden...!

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

I had lap band surgery 21st June this year so not that long ago, I have 6cc in at the moment after 2 fills and had quite a high restriction. All of a sudden I feel nothing....! to late to call my surgeons office should I be worried? has this happened to anyone before?

I have looked online and looked a symptoms of a slip but dose not quite fit, I am worried my band has unbuckled or I have sprung a leak somewhere?

please if you have any info let me know, thanks

Just because you are not feeling the restriction you once had doesn't mean your band has slipped. It simply means you have probably lost more weight or inches and maybe in need of another fill. There is nothing to worry about. Just keep watching your portions and keep on losing. Continued success.

I go through periods of what seems like no restriction and then all of a sudden there it is. I was at a banquet with a friend who had by pass just before I had band and we split a banquet meal of chicken breast and mix veggies. I took three bites and said "Oh, damn!" She turned to me and asked, "Band working? I told her yes and she said her surgery was working too and we neither cleaned our plates. Love that surgery!

I have days like that sometimies to where i can only eat a few bites and somedays i feel like i have no restriction which are few and far in between and even on the days i feel i have no restriction i really dont even eat that much i guess im just satisfied. as you loose weight you will need adjustments as the band becomes looser as well everytime i drop about 20-30 pounds i have to have an adjustment because my band is too loose and i also have days to where im think i need an adjustment and wait because the next day or two im at good restriction our bodies play a big part in how our bands feel they vary from one day to the next. good luck!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
