I live in the south. We live on tex mex and southern comfort food. I was and still am willing to give it all up to be healthy. I was sleeved on Wed. But I am curious. Will I ever be able to eat a small taco or a chicken wing again ever?

From all the research I have been doing (I am not sleeved yet) you should be able to eventually eat most anything but not as much as presurgery. As to whether you will want to I hear the sleeve and subsequent healthier diet will impact what you want to eat.

Yes, of course.

But just one.

I was sleeved 2.5 weeks ago and yesterday my sister and I split a delicious pulled pork soft shell taco with fresh black bean and corn mix and zesty avocado mango salsa. It was awesome. Of course I left the corn tortilla other and then had to moosh up my small portion quite a bit, but I ordered a side of red Beans, which made it easier. I could only eat about four bites before I was full, but now I have enough for about four or five more meals. I love tex mex and Cuban foods and I don't see any issues. You'll just find that you'll eat much, much smaller portions. And you'll just have to make decisions on what it is you want to fill up on...a corn tortilla or all the yummy stuff inside.

After some research and the help of my doctor, I was told that after the first 7-8 weeks I should be able to eat anything within reason. Small amounts of what ever I want as long as I mantain 75-80 gms of Protein a day.

Once I was on soft solids, I took a trip back to Indiana to see my parents. Of course at the train station there was only fast food. My best option was a beef soft taco. So I ordered one and basically ate the meat and cheese and pico. The world continued to turn.

Ultimately I knew that I was never going to be a clean eater. I just don't have it in me to eat kale and quinoa. The appeal of the sleeve is that I am able to eat what I want just in small quantities. So if I want the taco I can have the taco. But only one taco. Before I would have had four or six. That is a joy of the sleeve - I can have a little bit of the food I love which makes me happy and makes me feel like I'm enjoying the food experience.

I had this surgery to help me reduce the amount of food I ate. I was not a junk food eater. I ate too much of the right things. Way too much and occasionally I would binge eat. It was all a vicious cycle. I am happy that having the surgery took away my desire for sugar, because when I binge ate that was my food of choice.

If possible, I recommend that everyone/anyone watch the movie "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead." It was incredibly motivational and you might have a whole new outlook on different veggies like kale (which I personally have not tried yet.)

I was sleeved 9/16/14 - initial dr visit was 8/28/14 and weight was 223. Surgery date was 9/16/14 and weight was 221. So didn't lose too much post op. today 10/9/14 and I'm at 206.6. Am I on schedule ? Seems others are half MORE by now than me. I'm not able to reach any of my goals. Also having problem with ideas for puréed stage. I need to get the Protein in as well as the Water. So hard to do both. Am I alone in this state ?? :-/

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
