From what I understand New whey Protein shots are junk and filled with collagen based Protein in which your body doesn't fully absorb, So you might want to cut that protein count back a bit.

yeah, they might just be. Thanks for the advice. off to find another protein shot. hate taking them but like that they are concentrated so I can spend my time drinking things I like rather than stuff I have to

How are you doing so much two days after surgery and eating puréed foods? That's crazy. I can barely walk my stomach exit incision kills me. I'm ordered to stay on all liquids and then yogurt etc...for two weeks and no exercise whatsoever other than walking. I'm simply AMAZED. Your sleeve needs time to heal etc...didn't they give you any rules to follow?

Believe it or not, I am following the post-op rules. Had a draconian 2 week pre-op all liquid high Protein low carb low fat diet that was disgusting to follow. I guess my surgeon goes scorched earth the 2 weeks before and advances diet aggressively post-op

In the hospital I was one of maybe 10 bariatric patients done that day from the local surgeons including the large group I went to. The surgeon kept me no liquids at all until barium swallow next day. then advanced to Clear Liquids. Took in 1 oz of lite cranberry juice in tiny sips. Once took in another dose, they advanced my diet to purees and I ate a few spoonsful of pureed chicken moistened with baby food consistency carrots.

Discharged with these rules: sip calorie free or Protein shake liquids at no more than 1 oz/15 minutes, eat 3 pureed meals daily with no eating /drinking within 20-30 minutes between. and walk/exercise as tolerated.

In my pre-op class, 2 weeks before, asked the PA if could work out after (I had been doing cardio and weights) and she said yes but keep the weights to toning weights.

I called her on Thursday (day 3 post op) and reviewed the post-op rules with her as I was mighty thirsty, especially perhaps with high-intensity cardio. She said could work out like that, lift weights up to 15#, and take in liquids as tolerated. Especially warm and room-temperature liquids. So I have upped my liquids with zero discomfort with the warm liquids- having a mug of warm Decaf coffee right now. Much happier now that I can drink what I need. Given that I have no problems, no pain, no burping, I am going to continue hydrating with room-temperature and especially warm liquids as much as I can.

I have been eating my 3 micro meals- all pureed foods I cooked night before surgery and pureed and froze- chili, chicken taco meat with salsa, chicken tandoori,, Persian meat and bean and fenugreek dish, moussaka, meatballs, chicken with spinach, brocolli and tomato- I made sure they were low fat, low carbs and high Protein with low-carb veggies cooked into recipes. I figured I might as well enjoy the flavor profiles of my favorite foods. Have to say these are pretty good. (Taking Beano melt-tabs before all just in case)

I used my immersion blender and made similar (albeit much spicier) pureed meals just like what I made for my kids when they were starting on pureed foods. The immersion blender is a great tool and easier to clean than a cuisinart type blender.

So I am feeling really great. Exercised- cardio, Ran around with my kids today, got dressed up, makeup and all, and went to synagogue for a few hours too. Going to lift weights in a few minutes.

I would hope all of you would be having an easy post-op course. I am post-op day 5 (sleeved 9/8) and feel about 90-95%- a little tired out after running around with a full day with my 3 and 6 year old but otherwise fine. Incisions healing well and the dermabond glue is starting to flake off. My only complaint is flatulence and diarrhea the latter of which is getting slightly better but still concerning. I try to hydrate so as to compensate for this great Fluid loss.

I will see if this is all serving me well when I go to my 1st post op visit on 9/16. back to work a day later.

I felt like a million bucks immediately post-op from the band 2/07 as well as from band removal 3/14- went to full day of work the next day back in March. So perhaps I heal and bounce back quicker.

I was sleeved on 9-2, spent one night in hospital. Pretty un eventful Pain wasn't bad other than when getting up out of bed. Seems like each day the fluids go down a little easier. I'm looking forward to the next stage of eating, no more liquid diet please :). Today was my first day back at work. It went easier than I thought. Good luck to all the September sleevers.

This may be TMI but how long was it before you all had your first bowel movement? I just want to make sure I'm not getting backed up or if it's normal for the first couple of days or so? Thanks.

Sleeved on 10th. I am coming along just fine. I am glad I have all next week off. I totally forgot that my 7 year wedding anniversary is tomorrow!!! Time flies. my wonderful 30 week pregnant wife knows that we will not be going out on the town. anyway, I am off pain meds now. I was given 90 oxycodone! I have been sleeping in a chaise lounge chair that keeps my chest elevated at a good level. I tried taking a nap on my bed today, but I know I will toss and turn at night that could cause some pain. I have chosen to keep my surgery a secret so I am really banking on a good recovery all next week to get back to myself before I head back to work. congrats to all of you who have made it through surgery. I love hearing your stories. keep up all the great work.

No surprise I'm sure but this is the first time I've ever written about this subject :). It wasn't hard, but not a diarrhea type of bowel movement either. I had been dreading this but really no pain. Next one wasn't till about three more days,I guess with all liquids you can't expect much :). Hope your doing good. I have my two week post op check and nutrition class on 9/16. I can't wait to start having anything besides liquids especially the Protein Shakes.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
