3rd week post op, cannot tolerate scrambled eggs, anyone else?

Recommended Posts

So I LOVE eggs, and was so excited to eat scrambled eggs come the third week post op. But when i tried to eat it, it hurt so so so bad. After, i swallowed the pain was terrible, and then my stomach just didn't tolerate it. Has anyone else had this happened? They weren't dry, i made them with cottage cheese so it would be hard. sad day :(

I'm 3 months post op and still can't handle scrambled eggs. Boiled or poached is fine though. Its disappointing, but just give your body some time and try again in a few weeks.

The first time I tried eggs after surgery, I was about 3 weeks post op. Oh my goodness - they made me SO sick!! Horrible. Took me a few more weeks to try eggs again. Almost 5 months out now and still not a huge fan of whole eggs, but egg whites seem to sit better, so that's what I stick with.

Take it easy on yourself and don't rush foods. Be kind to your tiny tummy! Best of luck! :)

Yeah, I was a huge lover of eggs, made just about any way. Eggs were my go to food before surgery. I tried them in the beginning of soft stage. Sat on the couch for two hours willing myself NOT to vomit! Vomiting scares me! I have not tried them since, don't think I will ever go back to them. Sad.

eggs are a no-go with me as well. Before surgery, I used to love a big buttery pile of scrambled eggs. Now, there's something about the texture that causes my sleeve to begin cramping immediately after the first bite. I've switched to greek yogurt for Breakfast Protein and moved on.

Took me about 4 months before they stopped giving me stomach pain, keep trying every couple of weeks! I eat them once or twice a week now.

Agreed with the above posters...something about eggs just don't sit well anymore. They were my first "solid" food after weeks of liquids. They hurt my belly badly! I was truly afraid to try any other food after that. 5 months later and I haven't tried them, other than boiled, again and don't even want to.

I think I had scrambled once since my sleeve on 6/24 didn't make me overly excited ya know? I pretty much do whites now or poached eggs

Maybe you can try eating just the egg whites. You can also try quiche. Or just wait until you are further out. I love eggs and cannot wait to make me a high Protein crustless quiche.

I had read pre-surgery that scrambled eggs were hard to digest and that poached was better to use. I'm at day 16, and tried them this morning. it was good, and I wanted lots more. unfortunately, I just don't seem to ever feel full with food, but do better with liquids there. I'm hoping this will pass, but somehow, I don't think so.

I had no problem with eggs when I was allowed to eat solid food. I usually eat 1 white or just egg beaters. Sometimes I want a real egg. I eat an egg for morning Protein almost everyday so I would be really depressed if I couldn't. A friend of mine had a bite of her husband's omelet when she was a few weeks out. She got violently ill and still cant handle eggs and she is 6 months out.

I get liquid whole eggs, and pour out 2 tablespoons into my little egg steaming unit, add a pinch of shredded cheese, some onion powder, and voila, it's light and easy to eat. I've read that many cannot tolerate scrambled or hard cooked eggs, but poached works fine as the white cooks and the yolk stays creamy. if you have a hard time cooking them, then get a little egg steamer, they cook up nice in there. I did a steamed poached egg perfectly, and it was wonderful.

I'm also 3wks post surgery & HONESTLY because of the many posts that I have read regarding eggs- I have just avoided them thus far. I was never a big scrambled egg eater but I do love boiled eggs and I figured I will just wait possibly another week before I give eggs period a shot.

How's EVERYONE doing (newbies) doing w/ getting all your Protein & liquids in??? I'm struggling honestly!!!

I had the same reaction - felt like a rock in my stomach. I still don't eat eggs at about 2 years out, but that's about the only thing that happened with.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
