Had my sleeve surgery on 9/3/14. I am surprised that I feel hungry. Or at least I think it's hunger. It may be stomach spasms. Anyone else experience this? If so, what helps?

Could be spasms or acid. Did your doctor give you an acid reducer? I took Prevacid and Carafate for one month post op to help the healing, soothe the irritation, etc.

Hi angpel72! I also had my sleeve the same day and am having hunger pains. I have not got that full feeling evryone talks about either! I'm thinking once I move to puréed next week, and then to soft foods , it will get better! GL

Yep, its normal. I told the nurse that I always felt hungry. Of course, I was not consumming the proper amount of Protein. Talk to your doc about PPI. I don't have any but I was prescribed Carafate.

I don't think I'm "really" hungry. I think I just want to eat! I miss tasting& chewing. I was sleeved on the 28th of August. I went back to work this past Monday after 1week of surgery& I feel SUPER WEAK. I'm struggling with getting enough Protein down. I can only hold 4oz at a time so that's half of my 25g Protein Drink. I would have to only drink that all day to get the 40-50g I need.

Ugh!

I understand. I finally got my energy back but still might take a nap during the day. I am in the pureed stages but I haven't eaten meats yet. Don't think I can do that. I can't wait to get to the soft foods stage. i just keep doing my Protein Drinks, yogurts and i might one small meal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
