Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I decided it was time for us to set up a post op section for the August folks. there are a lot of yu guys on here and I would like to be able to see how you are progressing. Any changes? Concerns? We can help one another.

I am day 9 post op and all is well with me. Trying to stay hydrated and sipping on the portein shakes. I am able to sip more now, thank goodness. I feel thirsty all the time. Even if I wake up in the middle of the night, I am sipping. My fisrt post op visirt is on the 8th and hopefully eveything will be good.

Later Losers!

I was sleeved on August 25th. Things have gotten much better as I had a rough time immediately post op. I am just real weak some days and I do have a pain still from one incision, if I wear the binder they gave me it is much better. Cannot wait to hit Onderland I have 22 more pounds to go. We have a trip planned for Vegas on my birthday in December and I am hoping to get i to an outfit I bought as my inspiration outfit to wear to the TERRY FATOR show. I would be happy to be in a regular old large size. Lol. Today I had a scrambled egg and that filled me up. Still struggling a little to get in my fluids but doing ok on my Protein. :). BTW this thread is a great idea!

August 6th sleever. Been in a stall since week 2. Lost 17 pounds total in 14 days, then nada. Today is 4 weeks, 1 day. Eating pretty good, but find I still serve myself more than I need. End up leaving 1/2 on plate. Haven't had pain meds since 2 days post-op. Doing well with my Vitamins. Feel great. Biggest complaint is tiredness. Believe it's associated with how little I'm eating, resulting in very little energy. Can't wait for stall to break. Month 2 goal is to start walking. Been meaning to but just so tired...

Good luck everyone!

I'm another 8/25 sleever. I'm still on liquids only so I'm drinking my shakes, broth and Water and doing really well. I've been VERY lucky to have had no issues or even pain really. Counting my lucky stars.

I was sleeved on the 20th. Today is my first day of the non clear liquid diet and I messed up by drinking too much Soup. I still feel the urge to over eat/drink. I have some sharp pains in my stomach. I am seriously doubting that this is going to work for me because of my strong urge to just keep eating. I wish I wasn't hungry. I just feel it most of the time even when feeling full.

I also have become lactose intolerant my nurse thinks because of my severe heartburn. So now I had to hunt down a lactose free Protein shake. Tomorrow will be my first day trying it. I hope it tastes good so I can get it down.

I still have a lot of pain. Stomach/ abdomin pain but mostly my upper back is killing me. I have been having to take pain meds twice a day now. I am concerned and hoping it goes away soon

Hello. Sleeved on Aug 11th. I have been very fortunate....no pain, no problems. My doc has his patients on 4 weeks of full liquids....ugh!.....so sick of it. Can't wait to chew! They said that on my 4 week apt I will be able to start eating....that's next Tuesday the 9th. Can't wait! I am also on a stall. I lose 2lbs and then gain 2lbls then lose 2lbs and gain 2lbs.....and my eating (drinking) has not change one bit. So, I am trying to avoid the scale right now. The everyday weigh in has been frustrating so I plan to stay off of it until my next apt with the doc.

I was sleeved on 8/14 (3 weeks ago yesterday).

I'm down 10lbs. since surgery. (yay!).

I did struggle terribly with nausea and vomiting post op. Then once taken care of during my stay, shortly after I started with some bad bad bad stomach pains. Did a ESD and everything was ok except I now had acid reflux (explained the pain). Doubled up my PPI and have been problem free since then.

liquids go down much better - noticed that in the past couple of days. So drinking my Water isn't taking the full day to get in 64oz (plus my shakes).

My surgeon's plan is 4 weeks on full liquids. Last week NUT told me I can puree lentil and black bean Soups. YUM! 4 oz is all I can handle. Guess it doesn't go through as quickly (it's thick). But happy to get a full feeling, it's helping me understand my sleeve.

Next week is my 4 week check up and I expect to move on to the the soft food phase. Can't wait!

The only thing I struggle with is not being regular and having to take MOM to get things going. I am using Benefiber in my shakes. It's not enugh I guess, or maybe things will change once I'm off liquids.

Would like my energy to return, but I know it's still early. Exercising (e.g. walking 2 miles) is a chore.

Oh, almost forgot, I'm off my diabetes meds (metformin). My blood sugars have been between 90 - 120's. My A1C will be checked in two weeks at my PCP appt. Will see if I can stay off them (fingers crossed).

Over all I'm extremely happy I did this, even though I had a little bit of a rough start.

Hi August Sleevers- I was sleeved on August 15th - Down 17 pounds total. 16 of those in the first 3 weeks (including preop diet) but I am at a stall. Made an appointment with a NUT but can't get in until October. I think I need to up my calories - I am only getting in about 700 per day - maybe that will help with the weight loss. No other real problems - feel great - no issues with the liquid and now the "blended" portion. Good luck to all!

How much exercise is everyone able to tolerate at this point. My surgery was August the eleventh and I barely have the energy to do a little over a mile.

I am up to four miles now, but I have to do 2 in the morning and 2 more at night. I am exhausted though and my bedtime has been 8:30 pm since surgery, but I was up about 2:45 am and cannot go back to sleep. Problem is I have to go back to work on Monday. I was sleeved on August 25.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
