I am one week post op tomorrow. I cannot stomach the Protein anymore. I have tried everything, searched the web for recipes tried several different ones and all I can do is gag. I cannot get enough liquids in either. I cannot go to the doctor until Wednesday since tomorrow is a Holiday. I do not know what to do. I am feeling hungry because I can't get anything to go in. I am not nauseous, I just can't stand the taste anymore. I am on full liquids right now. My doctor requires 1-2 week full liquids before purée and I will not do much better on that because I don't eat anything that is mixed......soups, etc. just can't and never have been able to stomach that. I figured I would be ok once I could have real protein such as eggs, oatmeal, etc but right now I am very worried. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have unflavored Unjury, but I don't know what to put it in. I thought tomorrow morning I would try putting it in my Water and Pray that I cannot taste it. I used to like the unjury vanilla and chocolate splendor. I just can't take it anymore. I was drinking Protein Shakes since May 31st and lost 60 pounds but all do a sudden they just disgust me. I don't like broth or cream Soups so I am literally lost.

How do you feel about Jello? I made some from scratch with unflavored Unjury, unflavored Gelatin, a kool aid packet, and truvia (you could use whatever sweetener you prefer). You could also try making your own Popsicles: Vitamin Water zero with unflavored unjury, or water and mio with unflavored unjury.

Thanks sunflower child I can stomach Jello, do u think I could make it according to the instructions and add the unflavored Unjury?

First you'll have to dissolve the jello powder in boiling Water (only use 1/2 the amount of water) then mix Protein Powder with the other 1/2 of room temp water. Wait like 5 minutes or so for the boiling water to cool and then combine. It's important to do it this way because the Protein powder will clump if the mixture is too hot.

I had the sleeve on Wednesday and was given a small list of foods. On this list there is puréed Soups w/ added unflavored Protein or puréed cream based soups made with fortified milk (fat free milk mixed with milk powder) or soy milk, cream of wheat made with fortified milk or soy milk, and protein rich yogurt. This will be my intake for the next two weeks along with the Protein Shakes and Isopure. Hope this might help you a little knowing what other advice is out there.

if you can't stomach full liquids, maybe back up to Clear Liquids. Try Isopure, 40g of Protein in 20 oz Fluid. Try flavoring your Water with mio or dasani drops or crystal light, etc. You have to fight off dehydration first! Did you get prescriptions for nausea? If you are having difficulty meeting your fluid requirements, you can call your surgeon at any time - there should always be someone on call to help. Even if they tell you to go to the Emergency Department, they need to know what is going on.

I'm now 3+ months post-op. I had a break down about 2 weeks out due to my loathing of Protein. (It was ridiculous: crying and a tantrum.) My advice, and I mean this respectfully: Man up. Protein is essential to your health post-op. If it takes you 2 hours, so be it. It'll get easier. There are hundreds of different products. Try lots of them and keep switching it up. Best of luck. I know where you are right now! :)

I'm having the same issue, except I have the unflavored Protein powder and I can still smell and taste it! I tries mixing it with a few things but it changed the consistency so I put it in flavored water. It was nasty and I ended up throwing up (first time throwing up). The ONLY thing I've been able to stomach is the liquid Protein tubes. I take a drink of it a couple times a day so I'm sure to absorb it. Good luck and if you find something else that helps please share.

If you don't get your Protein in you won't heal as quickly and risk major Hair loss at three months out. The Water and protein are critical to your success. It's mind over matter and you can do this for a few weeks. This is the worst part and soon you will be eating regular food and this will all be behind you.

Make your health the priority and get over the taste. You are eating to live not living to eat......there is a difference.

Good luck.

Dont worry about Protein or calories, concentrate on Water. The rest will come in time.

I recently purchased GENEPRO from Amazon.com and so far I like it. It has no smell or taste. 1 tablespoon is 30 g Protein. You can put on hot or cold liquids or mix in foods.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
