Lap band surgery yesterday

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery yesterday afternoon and thank God my recovery is going well. I took the advice that I saw posted here and started walking as soon as I could yesterday afternoon. I made myself walk every hour till bed and got up at seven and started again.

I am a little sore, still gassy, but I am off all pain relief right now even Tylenol. I am so excited for the journey... I did get on the scale and was five pounds up from yesterday, but that's all the liquids they pumped me with. My liquids are going down comfortably.

I can feel the Lap-band inside me which is a weird feeling, but I am sure I will adapt. The only time I feel pain from the incisions is when I go from sitting to standing or vice versa all the other times it's just a livable soreness. I am So glad to be on this journey!

Welcome and congratulations on making your health a priority:). I was banded almost six weeks ago and it's the best decision I have ever made for myself! Take it easy these first few days. Walk walk walk and get your fluids in:). You will be so happy with your new lifestyle:)

Welcome to the losers bench. I was banded 4 months ago. I found walking up stairs helped with the gas. Get plenty of rest and drink your Water. You will be feeling awesome in no time flat.

Thank you, Praying for great surgeries and recoveries for those of you that have them coming up.

I will say I am getting great rest, I usually don't remember my dreams but I have the last couple of days... The only downside is I'm eating foods in them but they are high Protein meals. I'm not hungry and I find it hard to finish what's on my clear liquid diet.< /p>

My friend told me her band feels tighter in the morning or when she is stressed. She said she usually can't eat in the morning but can as the day progresses and it feels a little looser. She is five years in and at her goal. Is that what most people experience?

I dont know about anyone else, but yes my band is tighter in the AM. Ive read somewhere that its because as you sleep, muscles, organs etc get compressed onto the band = tightness. Most people drink a hot drink in the AM to start loosing up the band, later can eat a little food and eat more as the day goes on. Glad to hear all is going well with you, good luck !!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
