Slower than molasses, but...

I had my surgery right before my 60th birthday. Ten pounds a month is perfect. I think we are much better off losing it at this rate. In my opinion, it really helps let your skin keep up with the loss. I don't have hardly any excess skin;). What I said to myself before surgery: "I can't do anything about getting old but I CAN do something about being old and fat ! "

Best of luck to you all!

We can start our own support group, either here on the site or a Facebook group. If it were a fb group, it can be closed, so others can't see it. If there is interest, I will set something up. Thought?

I do not participate in FB. But would be happy to keep an active thread here on this site.

I would also be happy to join a thread here. I am 63 and having my surgery September 13th. I will be very happy with a 10 pound loss per month.

We can start a Support Group on this website, under the Community tab. I will set it up and just call it "Over 55". Ok?

Great job!

And years later when you are maintaining those losses it won't matter a bit how long it took to get there.

If you're using the app instead of the desktop site, it's under Gastric Sleeve Support Groups, Social Support groups, all the way at the end.

I found the support group website. Says no threads that I have permission to view?

Im 59 and Had my surgery in February. I wish you ladies a lot of luck. I don't think you are ever too old for the surgery. If you are willing to put in the work... then go for it. It's fabulous and you will feel so wonderful.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
