I got my approval letter a couple of days ago!! No hassle at all. The PS wrote a letter saying the panni was causing me backpain and balance problems and sent in some pictures (that's what did it, I'm sure! Some skinny little underwriter was so horrified at what that belly looked like that she stamped "approved' on there in red letters and put a rush order on it!!).

Anyhow, they said my out of pocket would be $220. The surgeon is getting his father to assist (I hope he's a surgeon, too!!) and I'm scheduled for July 13 (I don't have time til then).

Gayle, you don't happen to have BCBS PPO, do you? Please say yes.

Derbygirl..........

Re: BCBS PPO.......and the answer is......YES!!

The hospital says that my out of pocket there will be about $1100. I paid the surgeon his $220 yesterday.

I had my last pre-op visit yesterday.....I'll stay in the hospital hotel the night before since we live out in the boondocks. And he said he'd keep me in the hospital that night after the surgery (for the same reason). He and his father have developed a new style of stitching that keeps the patient from being forced to be bent over afterward. And most of their patients don't have to have drain tubes, but he said I might have to have at least one (I know I'm 'special' - awfully big thing to be removed here).

I didn't ask many questions about the actual surgery...I don't want to know gorey details - I can't even watch when I get a shot:eek:. I just want this surgery done .....wake me when it's over!!

So, does anyone know...if you are selfpay due to wls exclusion, is there any chance that the ins co will still cover ps? they all say that they will not cover expenses relating to complications due to excluded proceedures...

I would guess that if WLS is excluded, then plastic surgery would be too. I know my ins covered my band (after a major battle, and my DH union getting involved)They claim any skin reduction is cosmetic. The only way they cover any plastic surgery is after a mastectomy (sp?). Even after burns or disfigurement, plastic surgery isn't covered. My insurance company sucks. ~Mandy

Yours? and mine too!!! My insurance said is up to my company to choose the exclusions or not! and they have everything about WL excluded, they dont even pay for my band!! because they said was a cosmetic, even though I can even breath!!!!! I just wonder is a way to make them pay for my plastic surgeries when the time is right... Any experience???

Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
