I am just 2 weeks post op but also feel so full all the time. I'm not eating hardly anything because I can't stand to add more to that feeling. Really hope this goes away! I'm barely consuming 300 cals a day! And Protein Shakes are gonna make me go wacko!!

Have you told your surgeon? You may have a stricture. I am also 7 weeks out & up til last week was barely able to eat or drink more than 400 calories/day. I was having so much trouble eating and drinking everything. They had me do an endoscopy & found a stricture that they dilated. I am doing much better. I am starting to get in more liquids & Protein which is helping my energy levels. My throat was sore for a couple days after the endoscopy but not daily, I just felt like food was getting stuck & had terrible pain. Sometimes I got sick & sometimes I didn't? Does this sound like your issues?

That sounds so much like the way I feel. I'm supposed to get an upper GI next week. It would be so wonderful to have this fixed. It has not been an easy road. I had a hernia causing blockage one week after my bypass and the same thing happened the 2nd week post op! Few inches of my colon were removed and surgeon left an open wound, which has healed well. Thanks for sharing your experience because it gives me hope!

You are so welcome! It's been a rough road for me as well. I had an area that also didn't heal after surgery & had to have upper GI day after surgery- they called it bleeding ulcer but it was more of an issue where they connected intestines to my new stomach pouch. It was terrible. I also have a hernia and then this stricture. I still do not regret my decision because I am now down 43lbs and once I lose 7 more pounds I'll be in 100's for first time in years. Which is an awesome feeling. I'm sure it's probably a stricture so hopefully they'll get it fixed for you & you'll be unstoppable!!! Hang in there!!! It will get better! Message me if you ever want to talk or if I can help you!

I had the upper GI and the radiologist could not see a problem. The fact remains, there is a problem. I don't understand what is going on. Should I ask for an endoscopy in case there is something missed by upper GI?

I think you should definitely do endoscopy. I am not sure how much they see w/ upper GI. They dilated my strictures during endoscopy & found hernia.

I also take a medicine for acid reflux that helps. I know how frustrated you are right now! Stay strong - are you able to drink Protein Shakes & drink Water? I was even having trouble getting water in w/ my strictures! If you can't eat- please make them do the endoscopy because that's not normal & they need to find out what's causing it! Good luck & stay in touch!

I think that's a good idea because you need to get relief! I sympathize with you as I've had a similar tough journey! Hopefully we're both close to healthy recoveries! Keep me posted!

Hi k! Are you still doing better eating and drinking since the endo and dilation? My surgeon has ordered a CT scan of abdomen due to my history of hernias. The next step will be an endo if the CT is negative. I so want to be well and hoping that the dilation has been a fix for you! Thanks for sharing your experience with this. It really helps!

Hi! I am doing so much better! I can eat a lot more foods & drink my shakes with ease now. It has made a big difference. My scale has started moving more since I can get more Protein in also. They did find a hole inside my stomach pouch on my last endoscopy so I go for an upper GI on Tuesday so surgeon can best figure out how to fix it. It's not major but their afraid if it worsens it will be like I never had the surgery & I don't want all this to be for nothing! I've lost 46lbs & I never want to see those again. Just another bump in my journey but hopefully will be fixed soon. I have no pain or issues so that's a good thing! Keep me posted on what you find out & how your doing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
