Recommended Posts

Kat, I don't even begin to know what to say other than my prayers continue for you and Rick both and that your band will always be there, when the stress is over and you are ready to work it again, you will, there is no limit to time with the band. But please keep us informed as I know I am not the ony one who is worried about you and Rick! Take care and we are here when you need us :(

Oh, Kat! I'm sending you good thoughts. Please, don't put any added stress on yourself right now by worrying about losing weight. I'll run a little extra for you, okay? You are doing great holding everyone together.

dear KAT,

Im sorry to hear what is happening with your loved husband, my positive energy goes to you both.It is going to be ok!

Hey you have done so much work with the band, now you have other things to concentrate on and the band stays in for ever so you have all the time to get back to working out or getting a fill. Also when Im stressed my band is much tighter so I wouldnt consider a fill if I was you.

I wish all the best to you and your husband!

love Eva

Kat, I'm with all the rest -- you're doing GREAT maintaining your weight under such stressful conditions and don't even think about worrying about this until Rick is safely recovered. Our thoughts and prayers are with you -- this is so stressful and exhausting and I wish we could take on just a little bit of that for you. I have to believe everything is going to work out for you and your family.

Warmest thoughts, Julie

Boy, am I falling down on the job..............other than walking to and from Breakfast yesterday............this week's exercise has been nil! Still stuffed like a sewer and so taking it easy. My kids and grandkids from Sacramento are due in on Friday early morning and so the week just might end-up an exercise dud! Oh, well, I'll get exercise just running around after all of them - can't wait, have not seen those kiddies for months. Our whole gang will probably be over here for the 3 days - all 8 grandkids and parents..........what fun.

My good intentions about counting calories lasted for all of a day - I guess I just don't want to do it and so I won't!!! I might just have to be happy being "overweight" and not "normal".................at least for now.

Kat, how goes all? Molly how are you feeling?

Betty,

I like your little ticker lady. That is fun.

Sorry so many of you are sick! It is allergy time here and the air is filled with smoke. We have had terrible fires! It was heartbreaking to see our beautiful park on fire by an arsonist. (It is also one of my favorite places to run.) If I survive the air quality without an asthma attack, I will be very blessed!

Roberta (Ceperano), are you out there?

How is Bluehill?

Amourette, if you are reading this...XOXO!

Betty,

I'm in the same boat -- other than walking to and from work, I haven't made my exercise goals (i.e. gotten to the gym) all week. It's a busy last week at work for me. I'm off next week, then I start the new job. It's very emotionally draining. Anyway, it's 2.5 miles to work, so as long as I get that in, I figure it counts toward the challenge, even if I'm not in workout gear, right?

Of course it counts Julie! I need to update my sig cause I have gotten a couple of excersise sessions in and I need to update.

Betty I am sorry you are still feeling stuffy and yuck, I hope you feel better soon!

I start the icky portion of the gallstone cleanse today the next 16hours are not going to be fun, 8 hours of feeling gross from the olive oil and then up to 8 hours of severe cramping and passing of stones, I understand the oil actually forms little gell ball like things that you pass too, so it should be a ton of fun. Good news is that tomorrow I will be able to start eating food again!

Eficka, Take care and feel better soon. Exercise can wait.

For me, I'm off to Texas for the weekend. I've gotten my calories back under reasonable control and have gotten to the gym 2 days in a row for good, long cardio sessions and a couple of lbs have dropped off. WOOHOO. I had a few really scary days there where I was eating junk (like chocolate and candy) from the drugstore like the old days. Of course, thanks to my band, I couldn't go home and chase it with an entire pizza, but it wasn't fun to feel out of control with the food again. I think I've adjusted to my unfill and am genuinely doing better. I'm also staying positive about my job change -- had dinner with the new group last night and it's going to be great.

So, off to Texas I go. I haven't been to see my school friends since law school graduation, which was in 2002! I'm excited.

Talk soon, Julie

Well my gallstone purge worked, about 200 stones I estimate. It was not a fun week for me but it's over. Maybe now I can finally get some good excersize in! It's a little hard when you are living in the bathroom or doubled over in pain. Efficka, just keep checking in and letting us know how you are, I am sorry you are so sick, it's no fun at all. Take care and feel better soon! Julie, good for you getting the candy thing under control ;) It isn't easy being unfilled. Well I am not sure how or why but the scale says 269 and even if it goes up a pound or two for a few days I am taking the low number and running with it. Now despite flucuations I am in my mind in the 60's yay :) and hopefully with my little baby fill i got I will get safely to the center of town and maybe even breeze on thru without stopping for gas. Kat I am still praying. Oh and Betty do we have a date yet? for or little bash?

Ooh nsv I almost forgot about. I was talking to some ladies from church during a rehearsal Wednesday night and we were talking about dress sizes and how I bought a new dress off the internet a size 26 but it is about 2-3 sizes too big! It must run genreous because I know I am definitely no smaller than a 22 at the very smallest. My 26 slacks and skirt are getting pretty loose so maybe somewhere between 22-24 but anyway, I said it's hard cause I really don't know what size I am anymore, and the one lady said I looked about like her daughter who is an 18! Now I know I am not an 18 yet but boy that made me feel good! Hehe, had to share.

Just ran about 4+ miles...felt great!

Okay, this just is NOT cool! Too many of our group are suffering right now!

Eficka, tonsilitis? Ouch! You'll be back before you know it.

Molly, your experience with the gallstones must have been harrowing. That is definitely something we will all need to beware of. You probably are a much smaller size. It seems we are smaller on the way down. I think Julie described it as "bone density changes."

Julie, WTG with the candy. I've quit the candy, too. (At least for now.) Just Say, "No!" After the total unfill, I gained about six pounds or so. Now, the scale is FINALLY moving lower again!

Happy Mother's Day to all!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
