Self Pay and Financing

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone-

I am going to Mexico for my surgery but I need to have a portion of it financed since I am self pay. Has anyone had issues with getting approved and where did you go to get the financing? I don't have horrible credit by any means but I've already been turned down by one company. I'm trying not to get discouraged though. Thanks for the help!!

I'm a big advocate for not spending money you don't have. Finance charges and interest will add up fast. I saved for two years for this surgery so I could pay cash. I did put my plane ticket on a low interest credit card, but I paid it off within 3 months when I got my tax return.

I am also a self pay and am going to Mexico. I would most likely be authorized through my insurance, but it would still cost around $3000 plus all the dr visits copays etc....so it is going to be $4600 to go to mexico and skip all the hoops. I was scheduled for surgery 6 years ago and opted out. I went through the entire process was accepted and had a date. I declined as my kids were to young and it just wasn't the right timing. I am going through ALIGHTERME.COM. very nice people. I spoke with Sonya.she's super nice. she said that they have two finance companies they use. Check out their website and see who they finance through. just a thought.. best of luck to you! :)

I'm also self-pay and I'm paying quite a bit more to stay in the US and go through a plan with ongoing NUT and psych support as well as support groups and follow-ups. I have about 1/2 the money in cash and I ended up taking a cash out loan on my car which we owned free and clear. The auto loan rates are low right now so it was a good option for us.

I am also going to Mexico, fearful that I could not get my surgery approved. Beliteweight.com is the facilitator we are using, JoAnne Narayan, program service director had helped us every step of the way. Our credit wasn't the best either as we are rebounding also. I did a lot of research I the doctor and hospital haven't heard one bad thing. I have been thinking about this for a long time, but it wasn't until I recently had back surgery and the doctor emphasizing re-injury chances drastically increasing because of my weight. Initially, my husband was absolutely against any type of surgery, but hearing the doctor and seeing me in pain for do long he is do supportive. A little more than you asked for but I am scheduled for October 9, and my process has been so great not having to go jump through a lot of the hoops or the disappointment of being denied.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
