How is everyone doing, I am doing ok, can't take pain meds allergic to all opiates, extra strength Tylenol is only thing I can use. My pain is upper back, not sure if kidney pain, or gas pocket, I am using Gas-x strips, it seems to help, also using heating pad on back..

When I came home from hospital had a lot of Fluid retention, had gained 16 lbs.. I had to call doctors office they prescribed Lasix , that helped , most of my swelling is gone, only 3 lbs to go to be at pre surgery weight..

1st day home couldn't get all my liquids or Protein in, did much better 2nd day home which was yesterday, able to get all liquids in and all protein in, only way to do is to take in protein in every 3 hrs., then sip on liquids after 30 min, and stop 15 mins prior to protein meal or snack.

Hi Meme,

How many days were you in the hospital? If it was just 1, you shouldn't be on any Proteins yet as far as most doctors are concerned. In my case that came on day 5-7 if you were tolerating all Clear Liquids. Remember, your shakes should be very watery right now to help them flow through you more easily.

Thank you for your response.

I was in hospital total of 3 days including surgery day, my surgeon told me to start Protein when discharged from hospital, can do sugar free pudding mixed with Protein Powder, carb master yogurt mixed with protein powder, also any of the Protein Shakes they recommended, I have been using Unjury products, strained Soups mixed with protein, each feeding only 4 oz, 6 feedings per day and at least 64 oz of fluids, preferably water..

Tomorrow have post op appointment, to get drain tube removed, can't wait, very annoying part of post op.

My surgery was the 29th! I'm doing pretty good although it's been tough to keep up on my liquids and Protein but I'm getting better! I'm only on Protein shakes though which has been tough! Can't wait for soft foods!

I felt so much better after getting my drain out and not being connected to anything anymore! Good luck!

Mine was on the 29th, too! I'm doing well with the Clear Liquids. I'm bored to tears with them, but I'm just grateful that I can drink them easily as long as I take small sips. And OMG, the burping!!!! I sound like my grandfather after a dinner of pork and sauerkraut!

Thursday I graduate to liquid-liquids, and I am SO looking forward to making some bisque soup! And a smoothie!

I too, was sleeved on the 29th. I feel great, up and walking a lot, cleared to drive even! Only taking childrens Tylenol for pain. I drink 2 Protein Shakes a day, spread out of course, and eat strained Soup with unflavored Protein mixed in. Drinking at least 64oz water/flavored Water a day. I've lost 14lbs since surgery!

I was also sleeved on the 29th, and I came back to work today. Getting all of my Protein and Water in has been a bit of a struggle, but I think Ive finally mastered it. Right now nothing that I can have is very appealing, so Im basically just making myself drink it. Even thought I dont feel hungry, I think Ive been experiencing what Ive seen other people refer to as "head hunger". Everything I see on tv, looks soooooo good (even things that Ive never liked, like pizza lol). I will be so happy when I get to move on to the next stage of eating.

Hope and pray for everyone to have a fast and easy recovery.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
