  1. Thank you for your response. I was in hospital total of 3 days including surgery day, my surgeon told me to start protein when discharged from hospital, can do sugar free pudding mixed with protein powder, carb master yogurt mixed with protein powder, also any of the protein shakes they recommended, I have been using Unjury products, strained soups mixed with protein, each feeding only 4 oz, 6 feedings per day and at least 64 oz of fluids, preferably water.. Tomorrow have post op appointment, to get drain tube removed, can't wait, very annoying part of post op.
  2. How is everyone doing, I am doing ok, can't take pain meds allergic to all opiates, extra strength Tylenol is only thing I can use. My pain is upper back, not sure if kidney pain, or gas pocket, I am using Gas-x strips, it seems to help, also using heating pad on back.. When I came home from hospital had a lot of fluid retention, had gained 16 lbs.. I had to call doctors office they prescribed Lasix , that helped , most of my swelling is gone, only 3 lbs to go to be at pre surgery weight.. 1st day home couldn't get all my liquids or protein in, did much better 2nd day home which was yesterday, able to get all liquids in and all protein in, only way to do is to take in protein in every 3 hrs., then sip on liquids after 30 min, and stop 15 mins prior to protein meal or snack.
  3. II'm now 4 days post op, having trouble getting excess fluids off, called doctors office they are giving me LASIK for 3 days, so I won't be so swollen, other tan excess water, feeling pretty good, I gained 15 lbs from the time I went to surgery, until now.
  4. Also forgot to mention 4th day after surgery.
  5. How long before you loose excess fluids, I have gained 15 lbs from water weight. Trying to take in as much liquid as possible with out it coming back up
  6. I was told by my surgeons office that insurance goes by weight at first visit, then weight when assessments are finished, after approved, you can continue to loose weight, I started out at 252 lbs lost 25 lbs during 6 months required assessments, took 2 months for approval from insurance, and 1 month to wait for surgery, lost total 40 lbs.since first visit. Met with doctor for pre op visit, he was pleased with my progress, 38.8 bmi,. He said lower bmi patients seem to do well with surgery, less complications. Surgery scheduled for Tuesday July 29, 2014, doing clear liquid diet for only 48 hrs.
  7.    alwaysvegas reacted to a post in a topic: July 29th Sleevers Where Are You?!?
  8. My insurance is Blue Cross/ Blue Shield Horizon NJ, it took me 2 months to get approval. They tell you they have 30 business days to process your request. After the 30 business days, I had to call repeatedly to get them to come to a decision. I called them almost every day for a week before finally getting approved. I am now scheduled for surgery on July 29,2014. I hope this information helps you.
  9. I am going to Dr. Nease, scheduled for sleeve on July 29,2014. I have only heard good things about him.i have already lost 40 lbs, since last October when I started my journey. It took over 2 months for insurance to approve my surgery. Will meet Dr. Nease next week for pre op consultation, then pre register at Cabell Huntington Hospital. I am very excited to get surgery over with, then heal to continue my life changing transformation, to a healthier me! I have always put everyone else's needs before my own, that has changed, time to take care of myself.
  10. I am scheduled for July 29, 2014 @ 6:00am. I have lost 40 lbs, pre op, only have to do liquid diet for two days prior to surgery. Feeling excited and a little worried about it too.
