Hi Terri,

It was not until after i posted this thread that i saw the "head start on spring" thread. WOW that thread is HUGE!! Congrats on your successful surgery!! Mine was great too! I go for my first fill in 3 weeks. Kinda worried about the "unknown".

Let me know how it goes!!

I like the idea of having a Texas Thread also. I think the other thread will be called Shrinking Violets soon.

I was banded April 9th. A lot of pain right after surgery. I was an outpatient. Doctor wouldn't give much pain meds..so I *HURT* for about 4 days. Each day got better..but WOW:omg: .

Getting a little hungry now..having to watch it. My Dr. won't allow a fill for 90 days!!! ;)

OMG!! Tomorrow is your "Big" day! I cant wait to see how you feel once it is done. I still have two weeks to go and am doing so bad. I am eating whatever i want. Not a big amount but still bad stuff. I guess i think this fill will cure me of that. I really have to work on my head!

I was banded on Monday 4/30/07 so I am4 days post op. I am really sore and have some gas pains. I have been doing the 30 minutes walking and getting the 64 oz Water in but I haven't really wanted anything. I have to remind myself to eat some sf Jello or a popsicle every so often. I have lost 19 pounds since starting the preop diet but I know that won't last though! I'm just glad the surgery is over and I wish I was feeling more normal.

I was banded on 4/30 and had a great recovery. I didn't have much pain at all. I have lost 10.6 pounds since then and am very excited to see my total at my 1 month mark.

I had surgery on April 12th and have had no problems at all. Alot of pain on the third day and then uphill from there. I have lost 20 pounds since surgery day when I weighed in at the lapband support group for our surgeon. I am even off on of my BP meds. Becca

I was banded April 17. I had a breezy recovery in Parker, CO, flew home and all was good. Starting about the time I tried to go back to work (that's telling) I started getting swelling. This morning I am nauseated as so for some days. I get a "muffin top" that goes down with fasting and REST.

I've lost 25 pounds.

I was banded 4/27 everything has been so so on meds for a infection, but doing fine.. my biggest problem is all the gas, I feel so bloaded and uncomfortable. Tried gas-x, deep breathing ect. but cant seem to get any relief. And now I'm hungry and dont like it, I think I still have about 4 weeks till fill... Emily

Hey Tracy,

I was banded on 4/6/07...I am going for my first fill on 5/17/07....I am anxious to see the doctor ...I just want to make sure all is okay...I have had no problems, but I stay so nervous....I am so afraid that I will do something wrong and I will have problems....sounds silly, doesn't it? I am just a worry wart...I read the post about slipped bands and flipped ports, kinda gets you to thinking...what if mine is flipped or what if my band has slipped...I do have a strange feeling in my stomach at night time...it feels like my stomach is rolling up....and pushing the band up....I have no idea what this is....

I was banded 4/30 and have felt great. The biggest change so far for me has been that my feet don't swell now. I am able to get into my heels and wear them ALL day.

What other benifits have you'all seen?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
