Paperwork Submitted

Recommended Posts

I have BCBS UT Select and they require a 6 month doctor supervised diet and 5 year history of obesity.

I'm going through Dr. Veninga in Carrollton, TX.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. I was just approved today on my second try. I guess even though I had a 12 month diet requirement, I'm fortunate that it took only one night for approval.

I hope you all find out soon!!

I completed my 6 month diet on Thursday and Dr. Veninga's office was submitting my paperwork to BCBS on Friday. So now it's just wait and see. They said the response time could be 2-6 weeks. So, I'm just waiting.

I go to complete my pre-op tests tomorrow and see Dr Marsden next Thur. They said I can schedule it for 2 to 3 weeks after that so I have time to be on the pre-op diet.

I pray you get good news soon!

Well I called UHC again today and was told it was still in review. And the lady I talked to couldn't believe it is still in review since it was submitted on the 19th. So she put a rush on it. So I will try them again on friday. Good grief! Come on and approve me already.

Will post if I hear anything else!

Grrrr.. I am so angry. :fish:

I was told that I didn't have a BMI of 40 or more for 5 years. Which I knew I didn't. But I have had 40 BMI for the last 3 years and as they can see if they looked thru my past 5 years of medical records that I can lose but I can't keep the dern weight off.

So I will be appealing.

Anyone have a situation like mine & appealed and won?? :help:

TIA,

Rosanna

I did not know that you had to have a BMI of over 40 for all five years. I may not get approved either.

What did your doctors office say? I would call them because they deal with this all the time and know what to expect from your insurance. I have read a lot of posts on here about people getting denied the first time and winning on appeal. Hang in there, I can imagine how upset this makes you feel. I think of all things to be denied for that is a good one because at least they didnt say you dont need the surgery???

Keep us posted and ((((hugs))))) I am so sorry!

Where is this medical center? Are you in Texas?

I live in San Antonio, Texas and think I may want the Lap Band proceedure. I have many questions to ask before I decided if it is right for me.

How many years do I have to get fills and refills, where is the port of enterance after the surgery, how long am I vunerable to infections, can my lap-dog continue to sit on my arm chair and get up on the bed and could she could an infection? How do I control emotional eating, how do I control head hunger, how long do I have to be on liquids, doesn't my old stomach say it's empty and what happens to it after I have a new stomach? Also is there a support group in my city I can attend and how often? I just have so many questions!

Alida

The Dr.'s office submitted my paper work at the end of Sept. and I still haven't heard anything yet .I was told it would take two months for approval .I don't know why it's takes so long . The healthier I am the more money the insurance is going to save.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
