I apologize

Recommended Posts

I am doing this publicly because I feel like I deserve a little public humiliation at this point. I am apologizing to everyone that I sent an overly negative reputation message to. I can't excuse what I did, but I can explain why. I had recieved a message that I felt was particularly nasty. I was hurt and angry and I decided to "share the love", so to speak. In the clear light of day, after I've had time to cool down, I realize that what I did was in very poor judgement. So, feel free to berate me, scold me, bash me, whatever you feel is necessary. I sincerely apologize. I let my hurt and anger get the best of me. I may not agree with all of you, but I really do respect you as people.

Laurend, if your apology pivots entirely upon the blood sports in which we routinely engage on Rants & Raves, then I certainly should offer my own apologies for my quick temper and my tendency to rely on my potty mouth.

...I would like to believe 'what happens in Rants STAYS in Rants'....

Apology accepted.

:boy_hug: Ditto for me. Although I don't recall being at the receiving end of any post of yours...

Ya never went off on me...but hey, we all act out of our hurt sometimes, but few of us recognize when we went too far. Good for you for taking responsibility for your words and apologizing. I'm sure everyone will give ya a break...just this once hehe :)

On another related note, for this very reason, I sure am glad that the "rep points" thing was removed relatively quickly. I mean, most obese people (me included) have very raw emotions and getting "bad" reviews isn't exactly supportive (and usually not constructive). Most of us already suffer with feeling judged by thin people...we should feel safe and free from being "rated" on a support forum. JMHO :)

Especially when you have views that aren't exactly popular with some people. That's why I got attacked, anyway, and had my feelings hurt enough that I lashed out. Several people apparently decided to punish me for my political views and were hurting my "rep-power".

Yah, the rep power thing could have become very weird. All the lefties could have ended up with negative rep, eh.:heh:

Doing something like that because of political views is petty and outrageous.

I got some negative reviews on some of my posts too, from conservatives, and I received no apology.

So I really can't blame you for fighting back.

I'm glad that was removed. I assumed they were just fixing another bug and it would be back.

I believe I received one bad one, another nurse felt I shouldn't disagree with the opinion of another. I'm thinking she didn't think that one through first. :)

Lauren, you are great. Everyone loves you and if they don't, well they are just stupid. :P

I try to respect everyone's opinion, even when I don't agree with them. That's why I never even considered using the rep-power thing to get back at people until they had already used it against me. I had just never occured to me to punish someone for their political beliefs. It makes me sick to think that I sank to that level. I learned a valuable lesson from it, that even though I may respect other people's opinions (or at least think that they have the right to express them without being punished), it doesn't mean that they respect mine. What bothers me the most was that I let that realization affect me to the extent it did.

Well, I support your political beliefs, but the real point is that in this country, we should be able to voice our beliefs without having people rant at us. I think this guaranteed by the Constitution. But some folks don't think the Constitution applies these days. I think it does. So screw those folks. Don't get your feelings hurt. You are standing up for the Constitution. I'm going to bed now.

You have been nothing short of wonderful and have responded to my questions with sincerity and knowledge. So what if you went off a little-"sticks and stones---------" Put it behind you and go on with the good.

The Constitution that says you have free speech, that you are claming is the same right we have to "rant" it is also free speech!

No it isn't.

Free speech has to do with dealing with the gov't. When on a privately owned message board or piece of property, you do not have any rights to free speech.

It would be like my coming over to your house and using your house for my free speech that everyone must eat 10lbs of sugar and carbs daily. Do I have that right?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
