Severe gas pains brought me to this group

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I was awakened from my sleep by severe pains in my upper left shoulder and neck. After taking pain meds an Gas-X, with hopes it was nothing more severe, I started searching online for anyone who could confirm that he pain was gas. Well, I found some confirmations as well as concerns; then, I found you!

I had my procedure done July 14 after spending most of my life with body image issues that ballooned into a bigger body imaged each time I looked in the mirror. So far, my recovery has gone well; with the exception of these severe pains in my left shoulder and neck. It hurts when I take a deep breath, try to burp, swallow... you name it. Since this is pain I never felt before, I really got on line to make sure I was having an embolism, which would totally defeat the purpose of getting the sleeve. I'm relieved to know this site not only has groups to support people at different stages of this weight loss journey but also answers to my current question as well as those I've yet to ask.

When they do the surgery, the doctors pump air in so they have room to do the surgery. It takes awhile to dissipate. Walking as much as possible will help get rid of it.

I had that pain in my neck and my stomach I went to the doctor because I was having problems swallowing because of the pain from the breathing tube in my neck come to find out I had swelling in my throat from the tube. They gave me steroids it took away swelling. And I still have the gas pain.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I can say that I had 3 c-sections and I had this will all three. It was in different locations for each surgery. It was excruciating on one that was stuck in my lower abdomen. The way the physicians explained it is that air get trapped and it can take a while to dissipate. Hold the faith that this is just temporary and it will get better.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
