Headache and Liquid Diet

Recommended Posts

How long after approval do you have to wait for surgery? Do they include after care with the fills and such?

That is awesome and you were lucky to be chosen. You can do it but it is not easy. Weight loss surgery is only part of this journey. You have to go through a lot and learn why you over eat and work on that too so it is mentally and physically challenging.

Right now you are in the withdrawal stage and to me that is the worst part.

I heard you normally have the surgery four weeks after approval. And they do cover all the fills so it is a huge blessing. I am excited but also super excited.

Colleen C, I am using Dr G as well, they have not told me what the pre op diet is. What does he require for pre op diet? :)

All of the information is so very helpful. I do have one additional question, how were you able to get through the two weeks of a liquid diet if you had a family. How do you prepare dinner, that is more willpower than most people have.

I am no where near the end of my two weeks but my husband is cooking. He said it wasn't fair to ask that of me.

My husband is doing the same thing. He knows that I would want to eat it so for the most part he has been cooking for my kids and him. And if I start dinner I'll tell him I have to get out of the kitchen and he takes over :-). I have a great husband

Honestly, cooking for them isn't bad for me since I also get to have a small meal once a day. So, I cook mine at the same time as theirs, and I keep the Proteins the same for all of us. The REALLY hard part was when I was grocery shopping Saturday, not allowed to eat any of the things I was buying, and knowing that they were at Portillo's nomming on our favorite Chicago Hot Dogs. As if that wasn't bad enough, I had to go back to the store Sunday, and they asked me to bring KFC home for them. When I got home, I exploded all over my hubby and told him that I'll NOT be doing that for him again. It's cruel torture having your car smell like stuff that you aren't allowed to eat.

It's a learning process for everyone involved. You can do it. It's hard work, but you can do it. :)

I wouldn't go that far. I was LIVID when I got home, and I let him know it.

I had two weeks of a liquid pre op diet. The first four days I had a headache that made me take to my bed. At night I barely slept. Then the headaches went away and never returned. By the 9th day of the pre op I actually lost my interest in real food. I just drank my shakes and tons of Water. By the last day I didn't even want the shakes. Yes I was bored with yhem, but also strangely not hungry. I'm 4 days pos op and I'm thankful I have zero hunger. Just forcing to drink broth and water. My surgeon only allows 4 ounces per hour.

I am on day five. One minute I am fine the next I am obsessing over food. I am glad to hear how the hunger went away after your surgery. I am also getting where the shakes make me gag and I would rather not eat at all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
