Post op 13 days....gaining weight?!

Recommended Posts

So I know I shouldn't be checking my weight everyday but I can't help it! Just the past few days my scale is showing me a higher number then what I was after I ended stage 1 liquid diet (Monday).

Is this like the 3 week stall but earlier?

Also, I'm always hungry...been drinking Water and etc. and having my Protein shakes as well. I take a PPI as well...what gives? Will my sleeve be more restricting when I move to the pureed/mashed stage?

Sorry for all the questions...just bumming out a bit here b/c I've also had to adjust my insulin a lot and wondering if that's the culprit :(

Sleeved 6/17 and stalled by 6/25. scale did not move until July 15 and I am 3 pound down in three days. I'm sure it is your bod young through the shock and I'm sure it's one of many.

I can see the changes so I'm not so worried about the actual number. Just hang in there.

Hang in there! I went through the same thing. Mine lasted about a week and then the scale started moving steadily again. For some of us, the 3 weeks stall arrives a little earlier. It will end and you'll start losing again.

Same thing happen to me about a week post-op. I actually gained 3 pounds during the two weeks after that, all while eating about 800 calories per day. It straight up ticked me off. But I have lost 16 pounds in the two and a half weeks since then.

Be patient, it will pass and the weight will come off.

LOL ticked off is putting it lightly eh? :P I've been tracking my calories as well, emailed the NUT today and she said don't worry about it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Just going to try to be patient (and hoping the sleeve does work for me) lol

OMG, I was about to go crazy, so refreshing to know that this is happening to someone else, I was sleeved on 07/28 and I have hit a stall 8 days out, I have not had a BM in 4 days, and the scale has gone up pound and Miss Mary paid me a visit. I hope that all this will blow over soon, I am continuing my evening walks of 1 mile just trying to take it easy, since it's a little over a week. I was seriously getting nervous, but now that I know I am not the only one, I feel a little better.

I was sleeved on the 23rd of July. I had actually gained 6lbs while in the hospital. I spent one night and wasn't allowed any liquid until the 2nd day. That depressed me. And now, I haven't lost anything this last week. It is so refreshing to see others are having this problem. I was starting to think this wasn't working. Or maybe I was eating the wrong thing. But I'm on the soft food stage. No meat allowed. I'm hoping to see a change on the scale soooooon. It discourages me. But I will never give up. I'm actually loving the fact that my craving for some of the bad foods and snacking all day has passed. Still trying to decipher hunger pain, full feeling, and just ate/drank too fast. So much to learn. So glad I found this app. Loving all the support on here :)

Can you imagine how much happier everyone would be if no one stepped on a scale for at least one month after WLS? Two months would be even better to get past those "late" 3 weeks stalls. Everyone could just concentrate on healing and eating healthy and exercising because those things matter WAY more than the STUPID NUMBERS ON THE SCALE!

That's why I'm stress free. I last weighed in early July at a Dr. appt and will weigh again on the 27th when I see the dietitian.

Agreed. I don't own a scale now, and I have no plans to buy one after surgery next week. My progress will be measured in the size of my clothes and how I look naked.

So I'm back on track now. Been adding Benefiber to my shakes and have been going to the bathroom. I guess it was some kind of stall lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
