Hit a stall 3 wks out. GRRRRR!

Recommended Posts

I haven't read the whole thread, so this might have already been mentioned. What I did when I stalled was the 5:2 diet. Go to YouTube and look it up. It's really very helpful. Now that I've reached goal, I use the 5:2 to help me maintain my weight.

I'm glad to see this post. I'm in the middle of my three week stall myself. I lost 40 pounds the first two weeks post-op then it's stayed there for the past few days.

Bryan, you lost 40 pounds the first two weeks post-op?

Then, sorry dude, but you don't get to call this a "stall."

I don't disagree with you VSGAnn! Just bewildered of the sudden change in pace of my weight loss after week 2. I can not complain.

Seriously, Bryan, big congrats on your big leap out of the gate. It must be terrifically motivating.

BTW, you're now enjoying your "three week stall." Search for that at this forum or google it. It's a very common phenomenon. No biggie at all though. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Best ....

I'm almost three weeks out as well and haven't really felt like anything has begun. From the start of my pre op Protein drink diet, then the liquid diet, then surgery, I lost about 25 pounds. Since getting back home and eating incredibly lightly, I haven't lost a pound. Darn doctors scale at first check up even read 5 pounds heavier than my brand new freight scale that is guaranteed up to +/- 2 ounces!!

Maybe it's because I haven't really started exercising. I'm just finally almost rid of the soreness and the constant tired feeling.

I suppose once I start moving more, the weight will start coming off. I start back to work tomorrow. Maybe that will help too.

Is this what others have experienced?

I have been in a stall for the past 5 days, which i know isn't too long but it's getting me frustrated. 3 wks post op, i'm now on softs/puree and wondering if i am eating TOO much, although it seems like not even close to what my nut's guidelines show.

today i'm going to start weighing and measuring EVERYTHING (i was just going by teaspoon or tablespoon up to now) and tracking like crazy. hopefully that will help. i was told to not become obsessive about measuring, and to eat for comfort and such, but i just want to make sure nothing is skewed in my eating. also going to try and increase my Water.

i know stalls are normal, but i really wanted to hit ONE-derland before i stalled, and only have 3 lbs to go until then! super frustrated.

Don't get discouraged. Make sure you are measuring once per week on a day you can sleep in. Measure after your first wake up pee :) you will be surprised at how the scale won't be of much concern anymore :) This really helped me get through the plateaus. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I lost 15 in the first 10 days after surgery and then halted. I am glad to have read so much on this site, it has me prepared for things just like this. I should really put the scale away, but it is so thrilling to see those numbers drop, knowing that they are NEVER coming back.

Hey! I'm new to this site. I started researching because I have not lost any weight for the past 8 days and I too am 3 weeks out. I started puree foods last week. Preop, I was 252, lost 12. Day of surgery: 241, now I weigh 225 and have been at 225 for 8 days. I eat 6 meals a day at 3-4 ozs each...some puree and some Protein Shake. Taking my BariActive Vitamins, drinking plenty of fluids. Is this what they call a "stall?" Or what is going on??? At least I am happy that my diabetes and sleep apnea are gone! Whoohoo! Anybody have thoughts or recommendations?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
