Things have been good. Last month was slow and I have an apt on Thursday for another fill. I can let you know then.

Yup, I've looked at it cover to cover to the point I can almost memorize it. It says NOTHING about calories. Which really surprises me....

Just a thought...

Maybe your surgeon doesn't want you "counting calories"?

Later on you mentioned your NUT said concentrate on Protein requirements...

I was never given any calorie number either...at least not that I can remember. Just as others have said, my surgeon stressed small portions of good quality foods, a specified minimum grams of Protein and lots of Water.

When I did track everything for six months, ( just to see ) I found the less net calories I consumed, the more weight I lost.....exactly that 3500 calories = a pound saying you always hear about. I think I ended up averaging about 900 net calories per day....with a gross of about 1700 per day average.

I was told 900-1000...but being restricted, I find all I can manage is 1000...every now and then I go over by 100 calories or so. I have noticed when I eat less the weight loss pauses...the day I get 1000-1100...I am a pound lighter the following morning. I think it's good to mix up low calorie days with high calorie days (never thought I'd think 1100 calories was high!). Anyway...keeps your body guessing and keeps you out of starvation mode where your body hangs on to everything.

Yikes! I never called my surgeon a nut! I think it was someone else on my thread, but it wasn't me LOL...

Yes, to the portion sizes and Protein intake amount. If I eat how it says, which I do, my calories stay around 600-700. I think that's too low, plus I get hungry. So that's where my confusion is. I see others with 800-1000 caloric intakes, and I'm following what the paperwork says, which is soooo much lower. So I don't know if I should up my portions, or just leave it be, and keep feeling hungry, which is frustrating, but if I feel hungry, I'll drink about 3 oz of a Protein shake and I'm usually ok. I even asked my husband if I should eat until I'm full, and he said not to yet. So what the heck LOL?!?! I was gonna ask my surgeon today, as I had an appointment, got there and they told me it was yesterday. Really? That's why I set my phone when I was still in the office for the 15th. I was so stressed when I left!

Anyhow, I think I'm just gonna eat and not overdo it and not worry about it. I'll see my doc on Monday, and get some answers then!

I've only spoken to a nutritionist once, and that was pre-op. But I have a book of guidelines that I follow, with portion sizes and Protein intake (60-80g like everyone else).

Thank you for clarifying the whole 'NUT' thing lol...

All of this is just so new, and I don't want to screw anything up. I definitely appreciate any and all input and advice!!!

I was never given a calorie limit either. My surgeon and nut both suggest the practical plate Portion Control methods. They said to use a small plate (like a salad plate, I use my kids' plates because they're even smaller) and to put mostly Protein then veggies and a small portion of starches if I'm still hungry. They said to make sure I don't fill the plate so full either! Solid Proteins the size of my palm, half that in veggies and a quarter of that in starches or fruit. I can't eat Breakfast because my band is tight in the morning so I stick with coffee until lunch time. Since I don't eat breakfast I usually have a snack in between lunch and dinner. When I do put my calories in fitness pal to check my protein, using this method I stay within 1000 calories. I tolerate normal textured proteins well since my band isn't fully adjusted so I only have Protein Shakes every other day. I like Protein Bars instead because the shakes don't keep my hunger in control. I also stick with low carb options. I can tolerate bread for a sandwich at lunch time but only do that every couple days and use whole wheat or low carb wraps. I'm exactly 3 months out and I've lost 29lbs so far. I need an adjustment but won't have that until Aug. I'm just now starting exercise. I spend 3 days in the pool doing therapy with my disabled son and the. Do 2 days on the the elliptical. I'm going to make a push to do the elliptical 4 days to keep me going until my adjustment! Hope that helps! I'm new too so still a lot of learning here too

I've counted calories for the past year and am at/around goal now. I've mixed my calorie counts up a lot and haven't noticed a huge difference in how I lose weight regardless. I average 5 lbs a month, except the last few months when I've managed 2-3 each month. I think the most important thing is to watch the types of foods as well as how well you chew and how large are your bites. If you take small bites, chew really well and give yourself a good pause between bites (15-30 seconds) and stop and 20 minutes, you'll do fine and the weight will come off. I recommend going on youtube and watching the 8 golden rules of lapband, intro 1-4. I feel this helped me more than anything to see how this whole thing works. I credit tmfun for introducting this information to me through one of his other posts.

I went for my 30-day post-op check-up today, and I had to do a quick questionnaire. One of the questions was, 'how many calorie's do you eat per day?' I put between 600-800. My surgeon didn't bat an eye at it, so I guess it's fine! I go next week Monday (July 28th) for my very first fill. I'm so excited! 3 cc's, here I come!!! I'm already down just over 26 lbs, so I'm ready to kick it into high gear!!!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
