6 months before surgery question

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I started the process for the surgery in June. My insurance requires 6 months of weights- that puts me on track for a November surgery. The office I went to the coordinator said I shouldn't lose or gain more than about 7 pounds from now until the surgery. I'm a little concerned about this. I want to eat healthier and I don't necessarily lose weight easily but I'm worried about losing more than 7 pounds. I have about 150 pounds to lose and can't do that on my own so I definitely need the surgery. Will I be denied if I lose more than 7 pounds. Like let's say even 10. Shared Experiences welcome!!!!

I would want an explanation. Someone (like me!) who had 150# to lose can surely afford to lose more than 7 before being too light for surgery. Usually a BMI of 40 is the insurance cutoff. I started with a BMI over 50. I think losing some before surgery can be a good thing even though I really wasn't capable of it at the time... I was pretty messed up in terms of out of control hunger.

Yea I agree! I think my BMI is like 49 so I definitely have some wiggle room. She said the insurance will see I lost the weight and that means I can do it on my own and they will deny the surgery. I need this surgery so I don't want to do anything to put myself at risk for denial. 2 weeks before the surgery they will put Me on an all liquid diet and I don't know how I'm gonna go from one extreme to the next.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
