Bypass scheduled 7/30

Recommended Posts

I started my pre-op liquids yesterday. This is getting really close and I'm nervous. All my tests were great and I should be really excited but I'm scared. I've failed so many times. Has anyone else felt this way? I've done so much planning and preparing. I've lost 68 lbs in the last 5 months while testing so I feel ready this time.

Wow, I'm excited for you. I am not as far in the process as you. I hope you keep coming here. Most of the stuff I have found was written a few years ago. So happy to see now that there are others just getting started. I can't wait to see you posting along your journey.

Thank you! I'll continue here because I have found a support group in my area. Look around doom, I've found a lot of current posts. You will do great. It's a long process but before you know it...it will be time. Take care.

Hi ladies, I am new and looking for support as well. Please, add me to your friends list. Lauramae, you did it--68 lbs lost is proof of what you are capable of achieving. It will be a long and difficult road for all of us so having a support group should be helpful. Hope to hear from you and share in your progress.

You will all be on the other side of surgery before you know it, and you will wonder why you didn't have bypass sooner!! Other than a few bumps (which I think comes with any surgery recovery) you will be feeling so much better in no time. Nerves are normal. The healing process can be slow and frustrating, but just know that it is worth it in the end. Take everything your doctor tells you and follow it to the letter!! Good luck!

Hi girls, my date is set for July 30th as well! I'm starting the liquid diet tomorrow. Ten days of liquid is definitely not the most exciting part of this whole process. Newlife and Casey if it's at all helpful, I use cocktail straws for sipping it really helps you can buy them cheap and carry them with you in small Ziploc.

This is fine pre-op but after surgery you can't use straws because it will cause pain by making you take in more air and can stretch your pouch.

EDIT: That sounded kind of crabby sorry...when I had the sleeve I used straws a few times and it hurt really bad, I just don't want you guys to be any more ouchy than you will already be!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
