It will be until you get on veggies. I tried every suggestion including awful prune juice. Nothing worked except the little pink pills for women, Correctol. I have bottles of everything on hand, worthless. Salads seemed to make the biggest difference at 3 months. We still have problems when traveling, but I make sure to eat a salad a day. Good luck, it will get better but I feel it will always be a minor problem from here on out.

Feel better! My niece had a gastric bypass 15 years ago and was told recently to take some Metamucil or something similar every day, in Water. I am not that desperate yet but no matter what anyone says when I am hurting and feeling misery I will take that little pink pill. My husband too. Except we buy the Publix brand at the grocery store.

My surgeon recommends Peri-Colace, which is a stool softener and senna-based stimulant laxative. I had terrible problems with Constipation when I was doing my 30 day pre-op liquid diet. OMG--I felt like I was filled with cement! The Peri-Colace did the trick in fairly short order. I still have issues occasionally, but one dose usually takes care of it.

Tip: I buy the Walgreens version of Peri Colace, which is called Stool Softener Plus. It is much, much cheaper!

I use miralax, as I had it handy at the first onset, and my doc said it is one of the only ones you can take "chronically" meaning indefinitely if needed without having any negative effects on your bowel muscles. Beware any "laxative" and use "stool softeners" We feel your pain but with some treatment it usually resolves itself.

And I'm just gonna throw it out there that I at least enjoy seeing the scale move down after that resolution. Probably not right that i see it as a mini victory, but it's the truth.

I think benefiber helps. Also lots of Water. When I don't get all my Water I can tell because going is difficult. And I never had issues with Constipation before surgery.

I agree with Benefiber and TONS of Water. I drink a 20 oz bottle of Water 3-4 times every day with Crystal Light and Benefiber stirred in. No issues. also move as much as you can.

Do you guys know of there are liquid forms of Colace? Having trouble finding anything for the 2 weeks post op. Dr recommended Colace but can only find gel caps.

There is...the generic name is docusate. Ask the pharmacist...maybe it's kept behind the counter. I think it tastes quite nasty. The people I've given it to sure hate it! Have you tried Miralax?

Taking Miralax now for 2 days, things are moving but at the risk of being too graphic it's like boulders made of chards of glass and hot sauce! Thought today I need to add something to make 'passage' easier! Found Colace but only in gel cap form. Tried mixing that up into liquid form and just can't get it down. Was hoping something existed that I could just mix in with Water.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
