@@scarlet333 do you do the elliptical for one hour in one go?

how frequently do you take a break?

I have started with the elliptical but feel breathless in just 10 min and have to stop for a few before I continue....

However, I did come to realize that nothing stationary keeps me motivated.

So im looking into working with a personal trainer.... after 3 long discussions we begin tomorrow so quite excited and nervous

Yes for an hour but I sure didn't start that way. I remember my legs feeling like wet noodles after 6 minutes when I first started. Try for 10 minutes and keep building. I have motivating play lists that I listen to to keep me motivated to keep going. The key is to keep challenging yourself. When 10 minutes gets too easy try adding a minute backwards, or going as fast as you can for 30 seconds.

Thank you guys for your overwhelming support @@erp Im already 3 months down..well almost with hardly any exercise done so far so I was planning on starting with with yoga first and after a week or two into it I plan to hire a personal trainer as well....what do you think?

I love yoga but found that unless I did Bikram (hot yoga), it didn't really increase my fitness. It is a great transition to moving more and that's really what this is all about. If you find a trainer that you like and that motivates you- it is so worth it. I remember when I thought I would pass out using 5# dumbbells, now I use 20# dumbbells and get excited each time I progress to heavier weights. Here's an inspiration photo for you!

Regarding cardio -- I got great advice once about cardio -- this book said you should do something for 30 minutes at whatever speed lets you go for 30 minutes. So, if you're on the elliptical or treadmill or bike, just do it so slow that you lets you keep going for 30 minutes. You're striving for long time periods not speed in the beginning. Once you can go 30 minutes, you can choose to either increase the intensity (how fast) or time (how long).

So, go at a snail's pace if that's what lets you go for a long time. Then work up some speed when it's getting easy for you.

Great job on trying something -- keep up the good work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
