Why am I so tired?

Recommended Posts

Week 1 recovering from surgery, week 2 amazing amounts of energy, now week 3 heading into week 4 I am beyond tired. I drink the fluids, I drink 2 Protein Shakes a day and eat 1 meal (barely) and I went back to work today after 3 weeks but I am bone weary tired. I have been exercising, take my Vitamin. Is this the norm at the 3/4 week mark? Thanks

Yes this is so normal. It took me about 3 months to really not feel tired. The first 2 months your body is healing and going through so many changes. It gets better.

You're recovering from major surgery! You will get tired, but each day you will get stronger and feel better.

Hang in there - keep working on getting in your Protein and your fluids. Be kind to yourself - if you need to nap or rest, do it. Also, if you are able to cleared, walk. Starting to get into shape will help with your energy as you heal.

Just an update, I am 6 weeks tomorrow and I made a few changes and I feel pretty darn good. Upped my fluids, changed from once daily chewable vit to 3x a day capsule and added 2x a day chewable B12 and eat a Quest bar when I know a true solid Protein is gonna cause problems. All reviewed by my nut. Feeling ssssoooo much better, thankfully :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
