It seems that recently I've been concerned about stopping my weight loss as I've approached my goal, but all of the sudden I'm noticing that I can consume quite a bit more food than I was able to even recently. I'm noticing that I can eat 4 ounces of Protein and then also eat 3 ounces of a vegetable or even a starch. Even a few weeks ago, I'd get really full after my 3-4 ounces of Protein and have to wait an hour before having something else. It is kind of interesting that right at about the point where I want to stop losing, my appetite increases...

Not complaining, but just adjusting to all of the changes. It was so easy beforehand, as my sleeve heavily restricted my food intake, but now I'm having to work at it more. I'm also noticing that granola and Protein Bars are my weakness and my consumption of both has been steadily increasing. I'm still logging and measuring, so keeping that in check.

I'm very grateful for all my weight loss but starting to worry about regaining and better-understanding what they mean by the honeymoon period. Damn, I'm going to miss the honeymoon ... How did you guys deal with the honeymoon ending?

I hate to tell you this but the honeymoon period was over quite a while for you! It is usually the first 6 months of the sleeve....you have been going it on your own for quite a while now and have been successful at it as well.

I am too trying to lose less now and feel kinda lost on how to keep it at bay....I am keeping the meals in check and hoping that with a higher caloric content at them it might level me off..Will see though...Dang this is hard sometimes!

:)

There's a honeymoon period?! But my tummy is so small, what happens? What if I haven't reached my goal when my honeymoon is over?

My surgeon told me that the first 6 - 12 months is the honeymoon period. I'm told (and starting to experience) that after this period we are able to consume more food and that it's more of a challenge to lose and maintain.

My honeymoon is definitely over at 7 months out.

My wife commented about how much more I'm eating at one sitting now. Within the last few weeks I went from bring able to consume no more than 4 ounces to about 7 which is scaring me.

I'm keeping my food choices good but volume is what caused all my damage over the years ...

That is what I'm scared of, after the honeymoon stage, to go back to my old habits :(

I've noticed that carbs in any form, sugar and even artificial sweetners make me want to eat more. When I am more aware of my carb intake, my restriction seems better. 60 grams or less per day seems to be the magic number.

I was drinking crystal light sweet tea for awhile and my appetite increased! I looked at the label one day and realized it had (gasp!) corn Syrup solids. I stopped drinking it and low and behold, my appetite was back in check.

Will the 5 day pouch test give you a re-set and "tighten" things up a bit so to speak? I've heard it does but have not tried it.

I'm with ya! I'm at seven months and, for the past 6 weeks, have been battling with carbs! And I still want to lose ~25-30 more pounds. Hopefully I'll get fully back on track and see the scale move down again soon. Stuck at 192-195# since May 13 because my "honeymoon" might be over. I have to stay focused, reduce carbs and reduce volume. Also, to eat slower again.

But, Andrew, you've done great, having lost 133 pounds! Since surgery in December! Wow. Good for you!!

PS: This is why I love this site. It's good to see we're not alone; not the only one dealing with whatever, at whatever stage.

Same here, Lots of support and info on this site. I'm thinking I might try a few days of just shakes and liquids once I think my own losing honeymoon is over. I might try a lot of things if not at goal yet!

Just becuz ur honeymoon period may be over doesn't mean u can't still get to goal. My dr said the honeymoon period is just the time where it's the easiest to lose the most amount of weight. Ur so close to goal now that ur body is holding on for dear life.

The first 100 are easy peasy compared with the last 15. I know cuz I'm still working on em. And I'm a year out and my honeymoon period has been over for a long, long time. Not sure that it's a infinite amount of time but it's probly more person to person and weight to weight.

Good luck! Ur almost there!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
