I too, am a daily weigher, bu I do not log my weight daily on MFP, I only record the losses . LOL. I tend to retain Water so I know some days it's gonna be up. It's nice to see it go down though. Like Lipstick Lady said, it really is fascinating.

The scale has lost its appeal for me a while ago. I think the last time I weighed was 3 weeks ago and then 3 months ago. I am comfortable with my goal body in terms of appearance and sense at 2 years post op. Yes, I weighed daily while dropping 180 # during the 1st 6 months and then transitioned into once a week after hitting goal at 7 months (180# @ 5'11"). Really, you do start to develop this new sense of "normal" with regards to body composition after a while. If you have a fairly consistent diet plan (I still measure my Protein portions to 4 oz a serving) and workout plan, the scale reading is going to stay pretty much the same. You will just know, innately, the state of your body based on mirror appearance, clothes that fit right, how Water retention feels, the feeling of being toned and muscular versus going soft, etc. you just know. Trust yourself about what the new you feels like and the scale will become an inanimate relic. I am happy with my body without tracking on a scale.

I guess (as you can tell even from these responses) that everyone is different. For me, I way at least once per day. But I do this for a couple reasons.... First it keeps me accountable. I am a denier. I got to be nearly 300 pounds in part by not stepping on a scale and being in denial. If I weigh myself daily I keep myself much more accountable. With that being said, I made a deal with myself that I won't freak out based on fluctuation. I use it more for an educational tool for myself more than anything. I can see the effects of things like eating the wrong things, not eating enough of the right things, not getting enough Water, or the positive effects of doing what I should, adding exercise, etc.

I'm not a scale fanatic, because I know the weight is coming off, so that gives me a sense of security. I only weigh myself when I think about it, which is every 2 or 3 weeks.

I have just learned not to be a scale fanatic. It hurts too much to watch that scale go up and down so I will only get on it once a week and sometimes every other week. There are the occasions that I get on it after a good bowel movement (TMI) but that is a rare occasion. I measure how clothes fit and being able to fit into clothes that I've had in my closet for a while. I'm actually getting to a place, where I may need to go shopping. Wasn't expecting that until the fall/winter months, so WOW!

Hey Mike, I'm a daily weigher like you. I weigh myself every morning. I know some say you shouldn't, but I find I do better with my weight loss when I do. I got sleeved on May 14, 2014. The first week I lost 15 pounds. The second week I lost ZERO. I was starting to panic, but the weight finally started coming off again and I'm down about 33lbs in 7 weeks.

3-4 times a day, for real. Fluctuations don't bother me a bit. I'm completely fascinated (yes, even almost 14 months out) that I only weigh 152 pounds.

FASCINATED.

Lol...I do the same an my surgery is next Tuesday my Dr said it was an ocd issue I was obsessed. .haha...I am! I no it's not going to b any different after wards either..:)

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
