Anyone a smoker?

Recommended Posts

Used to be a smoker, but recently stopped because of this surgery.

I feel better now; but do still have the Urge from time to time!

I am a smoker and have set a goal to quit before I get sleeved. I want to lose this weight because I want to be a healthier version of me! Just can't see going through all this and continuing the dreadful, stinky, expense, socially unacceptable habit! Sound like I'm ready?

My surgeon required at least 2 months nicotine-free before he would operate, so I had to plan ahead to make sure I met his requirements. I quit on February 25th and have surgery scheduled for July 8th. Couldn't be happier to consider myself a non-smoker now!

I've been a social smoker, but nothing regular. Since surgery I switched to e-cigs. I was actually getting more nicotine than before, which is a big no-no. Apparently because of an increased ulcer risk.

I use nicotine-free "juice" now.

I smoked for years and gave it up when my my died of heart disease at 54 years of age. I use to miss it, but now, its just one more thing I'm grateful to not want. I'm looking forward to junk food fitting into that slot as well and it is happening, slowly but surely.

I officially quit smoking 6 years ago. Since then, I occasionally would smoke when I drank alcohol. Lately though I've been struggling with wanting to smoke more. Possibly trading one addiction for another? I'm fighting with myself because I really do want to be healthy.

Quit smoking on the day that the surgeon said he wouldn't operate on anyone who uses nicotine products.

I gained 8-10 lbs when I quit. >_<

I've had a few moments of weakness, but overall I'm staying strong. it's rough. I loved smoking. But now I love breathing easier.

I was a smoker but quit January 2013. I had tried many times to quit in the past. I heard about a book called Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking (Amazon $7.99). I read all the reviews and decided that for that price I should give it a try. I smoked my last cigarette right before I finished the book. I don't know why but this worked when I couldn't do it on my own.

Good luck to anyone trying to quit, it's a hard habit to break.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
