Mad at myself for slipping

Recommended Posts

I am a type 1 diabetic and this morning my blood sugar went really low and I did the same thing I used to before the sleeve ate a bunch of stuff hoping I would hurry up and feel better. I had a hash brown and a piece of French toast...not good. I should of just had some juice. I am so mad that I could not control myself and do the right thing. This is the first time I have had any kind of potato or bread.< /p>

It happens. I did great, never slipping once until about 7.5 months, then I had about a month-long slip.... Luckily I didn't gain, but for me, I had to realize that it was just that....a slip.... A slip doesn't mean you have to stay down. It doesn't mean all of your bad habits have come back. It just means you had a momentary lapse. You know better now, so you can do better. Get up and keep going! :-)

A hash brown and a piece of french toast.... Not too bad of a slip. Old me would have ate 2 hash browns and 3-4 pieces of french toast. I see what you are saying though. The habit of not making wise choices. I agree with "livvsmum". We are all going to make mistakes and have slips. We are human. I am so proud of you that you recognized the not wise choice and can correct the old behavior so quickly. For me that's what it's all about. I stick to the program 98% of the time. But that 2% will guilt me like crazy. I've had to learn self forgiveness and move on. It works!! Congrats on the weight loss!! You are doing super! :D

I also thought after a hash brown and French toast I would have been full and throwing up...but no I wasn't.

Don't beat yourself up too much. That will cause continued feelings of guilt which could cause even more undesirable behaviors. You did what you had to do in the moment. The moment is over. :)

Be well…

So you slipped once. Get on with the rest of your life. There are going to be slips in life. Don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up and dust off your britches. You can do this girl! I was told they expect 90% compliance and 10% "oops". It happens to most everyone. :)

I have done the same thing, and I do throw up. I get so mad at myself for not eating soon enough and that old habit of stuffing myself kicks in, next thing is throwing it all back up! Luckily, I am getting better at monitoring myself and it happens infrequently. There is a learning curve to this, just learn and move on. Honor Your Sleeve!

This is exactly the reason I had WLS. I would dutifully follow my current diet du jour and if I slipped , I punished myself by being more " off diet". Our sleeve is a constant reminder that we must stay on track, but if we slip , it's so easy to pick our selves back up.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
