I have NALC under CIGNA PPO. I've completed all of the necessary steps to get my sleeve. My doctor submitted all of my papers on 7/21/14 and as of yet, we haven't heard anything. I called Cigna and was told that they have 30 days to review but geesh, do they really take 30 days?! Does anyone here have NALC health insurance under Cigna ppo?

They usually take less but have to tell you 30. Also the Nalc reviews some of these directly which is part of reason takes Longer.

I am excited for you to have gotten your approval!

I am getting extremely frustrated. I was denied(within their 5 day limit), they said because I was missing a second physician referral....which they DID already have. Then I just received a denial(on the 30th day, at 4:40pm after calling earlier that morning and asking about it they told me to call back later that afternoon) on my 1st appeal, because they said I am missing a physical exam, which they DO have! So, much surgeons office is filing a second level appeal today. I was told that this level of appeal has to be resolved within 15 days. So, keeping my fingers crossed and my faith up!!!

Stop sending appeals. They only allow 1

Have the surgeon office call and request a peer to peer review. That is when clinical staff talk to clinical staff.

So anybody else had problems with approval first go around? Cigna wanted more notes from NUT and I had to ask my PCP to write a more specific medical necessity letter. I am 5'6" and 248lb, BMI is 40.06. What do you guys think ?

If you have other doctors such as therapist for knees, back, ect. They can write a medical necessity letter.

. Did you have to wait long when you started the process for approval?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
