Could it be time for another fill?

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, what do you think? I'm 7 1/2 months out and I've only had 2 fills. I'm at the point now where I'm not loosing any more weight, and I'm eating somewhat bigger portions. I just got back from a weekend getaway and I'm up now 2 lbs. I've lost over 85 lbs so far. I feel like I'm also at a plateau even before the weekend getaway. My dr didn't seem to interested in giving me a fill 2 weeks ago when I was there with my hubby ( he's 1 month out postop Lapband) bc of the weight I've already lost. But I feel it's time for another fill. What about you guys, what do you think?

Stalls, plateaus and larger portions are not the only signs you need a fill? We all go through periods of time where we plateau.

How long is your stall? A true stall should be longer than 30 days(my opinion).

Sign you need a fill is, satiety lasting less than 3-4 hours. Cravings are not a sign of lack of satiety. Cravings for sugar, carbs, fast food or fatty foods is just old eating demons that may never go away.

Eating larger portions can be you dropping your guard with satiety signal awareness? It can happen so easily when we're on vacation, parties, holidays and placing ourselves in a tight spot like a meeting at a Chinese buffet(my personal kryptonite).

So, ask yourself this. Am I paying attention to the soft stop signals, am I hungry(truly hungry) after 3 hours, is my band now so tight I often have stuck episodes with sliming and am I following the basic band eating routine of Proteins first?

Too often we blame the band for stalls and lack of weight loss when in fact, it's our own behavior that is the problem. I'm not saying this is you, but, getting a fill that is too tight can cause grave issues for your stomach and esophagus.

@@RN4Band I agree with what TMF said above. Give yourself a few days to see how things are shaping up for you now that you are back from a nice weekend get away.

I know when I am out of town, and/or stressed I tend to let my guard down and eat past my signals. Sometimes to the point of discomfort and then I think to myself "ding" you should have stopped 3 forkfuls ago. I over stuff myself and feel like I had Thanksgiving dinner for an hour or more.

I'll go to the gym and then wonder why at the end of the week I'm not losing any weight :)

Take a few days to assess how your feeling if your hungry between meals and if so consider the fill. If not...continue on and just watch the portions and choices and you'll probably be right back on track again.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
