1week tomorrow - 8 pounds down - I feel .....

Recommended Posts

Ok, sleeved on 6/12/14 will be 1 week tomorrow have lost 8 pounds so far, why do I keep pointing out "lost 35 before the surgery" as if the 8 I've lost is different and that I feel like I want to prove I could lose on my own too. Yes yes I have lost weight before but as we all know there was no longevity. Anyone else feel almost guilty?

Your post is a bit confusing and no responses after 40 views tells me I'm not alone. I am somewhat new to this forum but I will say that I simply saw in my profile a place for overall weight loss and another number for weight loss AFTER the surgery so I simply complied and put in the correct numbers.

I don't think I feel guilty at all. My 30 pound loss was on weight watchers over the course of an entire year and not really part of a pre-op diet, or at least for me it wasn't but either way I am down 102 from my peak and every pound counts to me, pre op or post op I don't care and I certainly don't feel guilty.

Lose 10 times that amount and instead of guilt you will be singing in the shower LOL. It's a great feeling to have lost weight no matter how it was done.

Regards for now!

Odesa, thanks for your post, ok, I lost 35 pounds before my sleeve on 6/12/14, and I guess my pointless point :) is that I feel different about the post procedue loss, but OMG you are a true inspiration! Be well

Wynnie... Congratulations on your loss so far! How are you feeling now that you're 1 week post op? My surgery is 7/8... I start my pre op diet on 6/28. I have lost 20 pounds since my first initial visit with my surgeon. Something clicked in my head. I was simply ready to move forward and I have been able to stop using food. Honestly though, I think it's also that I know that I will have my sleeve soon and this is a serious decision. I know that I could lose weight without the sleeve but I would not lose what I need to and it would creep back on. At least with the sleeve I have a fighting chance at maintaining a healthy weight. I will never feel guilt for choosing my health. Sooo how are you feeling? :)

AnnMo47 I am feeling really good, so much better than I had assumed. Pain is now almost non existent, I like my shakes, etc I have found that I do need more than fluids in your mouth, so if I feel really like I need something I take approx 1 oz of plain Greek yogurt, mix in approx 1/4 scoop of my chocolate Unjury Protein Powder mix it and then dip the spoon in yum. It seems to satisfy my head urge for texture. You will do great. The first 3 days are hell, but then it improves dramaticallÿ every day I am happy I did this I can't think of the last time I lost 9 pounds in 1 week :) thank you so much for asking

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
