Scared! Tomorrow is surgery!

Recommended Posts

So I did my pre-op yesterday and my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 9am. I'm on Clear Liquids as I've been for 2 weeks! It has been very overwhelming! Yesterday was my birthday and I turned 24, I couldn't eat or drink! My stomach feels so empty! I'm pretty anxious and I'm scared to see how things will go afterwards! Yikes!

I think we all get scared! Completely normal emotions, this is a life changing surgery! Best of luck to you! Prepare yourself mentally. I expected a certain amount of pain, the worst was sitting up. Get up and walk in the hospital even when you don't feel like it and you are in pain. There were 4 people sleeved the day of surgery, i was the only one that got to go home the next afternoon because I got up and walked even when the nurses didn't ask me to. It shows them your are committed to the change. God bless and a speedy recover,

Hello all! I'm officially sleeved! I had my surgery at 11am and I was in recovery room by 12:20. Doc said everything went so smoothly! I'm not in too much pain more like discomfort. I have 5 small incisions, my mouth is super dry! I requested ice chips but I have to wait a few more hours for them. I have my leak test in the morning and if all is good and I'm able to get some Water down I will be released at 6pm tomorrow!

Update! I had my first meal in hospital, it consisted of chicken broth, tea, black coffee and a Popsicle. I was able to drink the chicken broth and had the Popsicle just fine! The yea was a lil hard to get down I'm still working on it. It's only 3 oz. the coffee I did not touch. I have a lot of gas when I drink but walking helps! The liquid for the leak test is by far the WORST drink ever! It tasted like straight vodka. It was horrible and they made me gulp it, that gutted a bit. I'm hoping the worst has passed and I'm hoping to recovery over the next few days in the comfort of my own home since I am being discharged in half hour! Yay!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
