I am 12 weeks post-op today and I am not losing! I can't eat that much food, I exercise 3-4 times a week, I TRY to drink 64 oz of Water. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have lost only 26lbs since my surgery(46 total sice pre-op diet). Maybe I am expecting too much too soon. I don't want to feel that I wasted my money (self pay), and I know that it just takes time, but I just feel discouraged! Maybe I am eating the wrong foods....What are the right foods??? Any encouragement or advice would be aprreciated!:help: :think

You have done wonderfully!!!

Your weight loss is something anyone should be proud of. I don't think you are actually expected to lose much after surgery. It's a time for healing. After you start to get fills and restriction, the weight will come off more quickly.

Hang in there and don't stress. You're doing very well all ready.

Hey Keyla,

I think you should be happy with your progress. It seems your are eating less, exercising and mostly getting your Water in. Dont forget if you eat Soups that counts towards your liquids.< /p>

My suggestion is to count calories. When my progress slowed I started counting and quit for the day at 1000-1100. If I was still wanting something I would eat sf popsicle (sf banana is my fav) . The 30 or 40 calories I would just try to ignore (lol).

Soon I was losing again .

Best wishes,

edie

HEY!!! THAT is great weight loss...I think we all want to lose ALOT and fast....but I am trying to think of it this way...the slower the less skin I will have to deal with!! and 50 pounds in 3 months...THATS AWESOME!! The way the doctor explained it to me was...they expect 50% of your weight in one year and then the rest in another two years. Thats a total of 3 years to get all weight off. So if you had a hundred pounds to lose..you would already have your 50% off at THREE MONTHS!!! So, give yourself a HUGE pat on the back and say GOOD JOB SELF!!!! DEANNA

I'm in the same boat with you Keyla, I am five weeks post op and have only lost fifteen from the liquid stage nothing since than. I don't see the Dr til the middle of May and then I don't know if I'll get a fill or not. I feel a little frustrated too that I'm eating less and I'm back to work in a fast paced job and no weight loss.

Keyla

i wish i had your weight loss - you are actually doing pretty darn good - a bandster shouldn't even expect weight loss until their first fill which is usually around 6 weeks. have you had a fill? after a fill the rate is typically 1-2 POUNDS PER WEEK. You are already at the top of the charts.

I was the same way as you and X-ray. One of our fellow lapbanders suggested I play with my calories a bit. A day or 2 at 800 the next 1000 and so on back and forth. It worked for me I'm back on track and watching the scale drop. I do try to stick to a low fat low carb high Protein menu. I panicked when the scale didn't move like you but there could be many reasons, like waste, Water retention, pms, etc. Don't get discouraged, "It will come off" is what I keep saying to myself. I go for my first fill on May 5th. I know I'm newly banded but this is what I've been told and read and is only my opinion.

IT WILL COME OFF

Don't worry be happy.

26 lbs in 12 weeks is fabulous. You are averaging more than 2 lbs per weeks and that is on the high-end of success. Band loss is slower than gastric bypass so although you didn't mention this comparision, I just want to make sure you're not trying to compare yourself to that sort of weight loss.

You sound like you're doing everything right and if it continues at 2 lbs per week that will translate to 104 pounds in one year!! Relax...you're doing awesome!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
