4 days post op..doing ok...still lots of pain at large incisions sites when getting up and down or trying to sit. Ive been trying to walk as much as possible. I am having a hard time getting Water in, not because of nausea or anything...I sip sip all day but I just don't feel like im getting very far. Also came home from hospital 10lbs heavier that really sucked all those iv fluids and gas. I can't wait until I can sleep on my side again..sleeping on my back with a million pillows is getting old, lol. Has anyone experienced Diarehha? I have it and don't understand how because I don't have food in my tummy. Just broth, Water and alittle Protein drink.

I guess I'm lucky, I've been able to sleep on my sides since I got home - no major pain from my incisions. That sucks that you gained so much from the IV fluids! I didn't gain but I had expected to lose from not eating anything and didn't so I figured it was all the fluids they pumped into me.

I did experience some diarrhea yesterday for the first time, as well as my first bm.

My biggest issue is I feel SO weak. I'm having trouble getting out of bed. I haven't really been doing the walking that they want me to do because I'm afraid I am going to pass out. I'm not actually having any trouble getting my Protein shakes in so I'm not sure why I'm so weak. I need to call the dr's office today because I think they screwed up my 1 week follow up appt. They scheduled it for 7/2 - that would make it a 2 week follow up! Maybe that's not a big deal, I'll call and see. Anyone else still feeling really weak???

Good news is I'm down 3 1/2 from surgery weigh in :)

I have been feeling pretty good. I couldn't handle the liquid pain meds the first couple of days but was finally able to stomach them. I feel like I should be walking more than I am. That is my goal today. I am getting fluids in pretty well. My doctor says not to worry about Protein as much this first week as staying hydrated so getting my liquid in is key. I got 48 oz + yesterday. I am having some gas pain in my chest still. It can get intense at times and almost make me want to throw up. I too am getting tired of laying on my back. My back is killing me. My incisions are a little sore. Really just the main one in the middle, the biggest one. Hoping my story sounds about normal. I like to overthink things. So to me the soreness inside my stomach that I'm still feeling is a bad sign? Is it?

How are we all doing to start off the week. Me not so great with Protein today almost lost it. I got some Unjury powder packs so going to try that next time. Can't believe I did ok with it till today. Looks like all the IV Fluid is gone and I'm down to 294. Yay a week ago I was 306 day of surgery 300 so I'm on a good roll. I tired to do more with my 3 year old today and I'm really sore so took some pain meds and resting now.

Hi ladies - how are you feeling today? Are you able to lay on your sides yet? I'm still struggling with energy and still feeling so weak! I hate this feeling! Other than that I feel like I'm doing pretty well. The weakness is keeping me from getting all my walking in though. I'm only able to get a couple of minutes in at a time and I'm not going often enough to get the full 20 minutes a day. How are you ladies doing on your walking? Do your docs want you to walk 20 minutes a day?

1 week post op today... I was feeling pretty good but as of late evening last night I don't know if I turned wrong or lifted something I wasn't suppose to but my main incision hurts like hell. It feels like the first day of surgery. Im worried but just taking it super easy. Follow up is on Friday.

yes finally can sleep on my sides last night YAY. I feel overall good still struggling on Protein I have noticed vanilla flavor makes me gag but the Unjury chocolate splendor I could handle so just ordered some more if that. I am walking at least 20 min a day and trying to get at least 2500 steps on my fitbit. I go back to work tomorrow and my good old husband is my taxi driver (dr says no driving the first 2 weeks) plus he needs to carry my backpack.

I also gained 10 in the hospital and since being home lost those 10 and 3 extra as well. I'm not going to stress as we are adjusting to a new life still.

Just stopping by to check in on all of you, so how is everyone doing? Me still struggling to get Protein in today I actually blended it with frozen berries and I got it all done. They are all tasting sweet to me and making me gag. I did try to go back to work yesterday and after 3 hours I was pooped. My boos said go home and don't come back till Monday. Hoping I can make I they he day then as I need to process payroll. The rest of next week I'll most likely work from home. I just weighed myself and I'm down 20 lbs. holy smokes it feels good. I hope you are all doing well.

I'm so glad I have extra time before I have to try to attempt to deal with work. I don't think I could deal with the stress right now! I'm glad your boss recognized that you needed to go home!! How was yesterday?? Congrats on the 20 lbs down! As of this morning I'm also down 20 :) I'm on the pureed phase as of Saturday and will be for 3 weeks. I'm still getting my Protein in through 2 Protein shakes a day though. Since the Premier Protein has 30 grams I know getting 2 of those in - I've got my min of 60 grams in. Any more from any other source is extra. My biggest issue is getting in my walking. My hubby and I went down to Baltimore for the weekend to go to an Orioles game and I got quite a bit of walking in on Sunday. But now my legs are so sore I'm having trouble just getting from one room to the next in the house. Getting 20 mins of walking in a day has been a struggle for me. I have my first follow up appt tomorrow. I'm afraid I'll get in trouble about that even though everything else has been going well....

yesterday went good but man I was so worn out by the time I went home. My husband is picking me up early today. My dr moved me to stage 3 soft foods so I can have scrambled eggs, deli lunch meat turkey, mashed potato or sweet potato and pouched fish (don't like seafood so that is out). Man a scrambled egg as so good to eat and chew something. :) good luck at your apt. My next check up is in 3 months.

Just wanted to check in on everyone and see how we are all doing 6 weeks out. I'm down 27lbs been stuck for a few weeks. I have one incision that is being stubborn and not fully healed and this is part of why I can't do a fully work out or swim. My dr stitched the inside closed and used glue to close the skin. Well the glue is gone and the scab fell off but on area part of the stitch sticks out. So he trimmed it and now more is sticking out. It is not dissolving like it should and keeping the incision fro closing all the way. On Monday I move yo normal goods which I'm excite but nervous as well. I hope this finds everyone doing awesome. :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
