Pre-op diet. Scary dream. Need any and all advice please!

Recommended Posts

Having trouble sticking to the pre-op. I'm down 15 lbs in about 2 1/2 weeks and am having issues sticking to it (on it for 1 month). Nut wants me to lose 30 lbs! I feel so guilty after I cheat that I end up throwing up. I don't like making myself do that. I have SF Jello , SF Popsicles and am drinking a lot, but it's so hard cooking food for others and not being able to eat any of it.

It also doesn't help that I work with special needs adults and they don't understand why I am not eating and yell at me when I don't (they are just being sweet and worrying). I really really need help with this and am not sure what to do. I do so well when I am home but do awful at work.

I actually had a dream last night all about my surgery and how the Dr had to open me all the way up instead of doing it laparoscopically. I am terrified of going to surgery and waking up without my sleeve. My bf, dad and mom have planned their vacations and plane tickets around my surgery to help me and I don't want to let them down.

Any advice on cooking and avoiding tasting or eating? My worst time for cheating is at night at work.

It's very hard for me when everyone is home as well. I decided to slowly adopt the pre diet by doing one shake every two days and now daily.

When I am home with the fan it's hard

I know you can't leave work but can you ask for a reassignment from your supervisor even for a few hours of the day? Maybe half with patients and the other half doing paperwork somewhere ? Or with patients who aren't watching what you eat?

I work in a group home so I am the only staff and have to stay on site and do all the cooking. Doesn't help that I have to feed one of my individuals.

I have been on my all liquid pre-op diet for 5 days. I have asked my family to take care of preparing their own meals. Fortunately I have a teenage son who loves to cook. So that has been a big help. Can you ask someone to of the cooking for you? Last night my son made what smelled and looked like a wonderful meal, so I just excused myself and went to another room to drink my dinner.

Good luck!!

This is going to be my game plan as well. I know my hubby will not want to cook for 3 weeks, so I'm going to see if while I go work out if my mom will cook enough for three to let him eat. I HATE every shake I've had so far, I hope Isopure works out for me ! It's my last resort. Thankfully its not a powder! Anyone else with this problem?

I don't know which shakes you have tried, but I bought the sample pack from Unjury. It's a bit more expensive, but I like it a lot. I also just ordered the sample pack from Chike. I've heard good things about their shakes, I'm hoping to like them too, they had some different flavors for some variety.

I've tried several. The main reasoning for my surgery (yes, even before weight loss) is everything makes me sick. To much liquid, all foods, it's never ending bathroom trips. So I eat very little a day and absorb no nutrients. The powders make me sick pre op. Hopefully they won't post op. I'm going to order the nectar stuff on Monday to try as well as buy the Isopure and the pure ice ready made drinks from GNC. So nervous. I want to be successful in so many ways.

Sunrise that's tough. Can you talk to your surgeon about some form of modified work schedule? I know part of the FMLA laws is you can have intermittent leaves or reduced work load etc. I am sure you don't work for yourself so if you can get the doc to help out with paperwork maybe they can send a helping hand?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
