  3. Just wondering what everyone does for exercise? I recently joined a gym, but besides treadmill or 30 min. fast track room, I'm kind if at a loss for what to do. Guess since I've not been much of a person to work out until now, it would explain my loss for what to do. I know that working out will be critical after my surgery, June 17th, and probably should incorporate weights do I don't have as much "flab" (for lack of a better word) as I loose weight. Any direction would be appreciated.

  7. Starting 6th day of pre-op diet today, have been to the gym everyday for a week now. Makes me think "I don't need the surgery, I can do this." Then I have to remind myself that if I can do this and keep it off with out the surgery, then I wouldn't have been obese my entire adult life! 17 days to go!
  8. I don't know which shakes you have tried, but I bought the sample pack from Unjury. It's a bit more expensive, but I like it a lot. I also just ordered the sample pack from Chike. I've heard good things about their shakes, I'm hoping to like them too, they had some different flavors for some variety.
  9. I'm on day 5 of my pre-op, with a total of 3 weeks on this diet. Surgery June 17th. It's been going OK no major struggles yet. Don't get me wrong I've been hungry, but mind over matter!
  10. I have been on my all liquid pre-op diet for 5 days. I have asked my family to take care of preparing their own meals. Fortunately I have a teenage son who loves to cook. So that has been a big help. Can you ask someone to of the cooking for you? Last night my son made what smelled and looked like a wonderful meal, so I just excused myself and went to another room to drink my dinner. Good luck!!
  11. Tomorrow begins a new me. I will be starting my 3 week pre-op diet. I just made up a batch of the vegetable soup I can have, it certainly smells good and looks like it will be quite filling. I'm nervous, but I know I will probably start feeling better just being on the pre-op diet. I also will have my first hurdle tomorrow evening. A fundraiser for one of my kids sports. Go out to eat at a certain restaurant and a portion of proceeds will go to team. I guess I will just order a tea (un-sweet). LOL
  12. Think you so much for your reply! I was having a VERY bad day, got over if that afternoon. I'm so glad to hear a recent patient say such positive things. I've honestly only heard positive things from people I've reached out to. Definitely more reassuring to hear that you are a nurse and highly recommend him. I'm still nervous but definitely I'm still planning to go. Thanks again!
  13. Thank you all for your encouraging words of reality! I know I have anxiety issues and the feelings of being completely freaked out cons and go. Today was obviously one of the NSC days. With your support and a lady I work with who had bypass surgery many years ago I have managed to get myself over this anxiety today. I'm still nervous but, I know I need to proceed to have a better life.
  14. I still have a month until my surgery with Dr. Alvarez, I'm completely freaked out and want to back out. I'm scared! I have two kids & a husband who are my LIFE and I'm afraid of dying during surgery or from complications and leaving them. And afraid that if I make it thru surgery, that there will major issues and I'll end up worse off than I am now. Can any of you relate to these feelings? Can any Dr. Alvarez patients help reassure me?!
  15. @@cortonball thanks for the tip on only doing one protein shake a day. I have to agree that I can see burnout happening. They aren't that great if you ask me! I will try only doing one and eating something lite an healthy for the other two.
  16. June 17th here. I'm trying to begin weaning myself down to smaller meals in preparation to my 3 week pre-op diet. I do well during the day but evenings are when I really struggle. I'm nervously excited about the surgery itself.
