Terrible Sore Throat!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Four days ago and I can't get rid of this terrible sore throat. Everythin seems to be fine but my throat is so irratated from the tube they put down my throat. Did anyone else have this? And if so, how long did you have a sore throat?

Thanks

Mine went away in 1 day but I used that throat spray . I'm not sure what it is named but it numbs your throat. I would go to the pharmacy and see if you can find it. Oh, I think it is Cloraseptic spray. Julie

I was banded on April 14, 2007 and three days later I still have my sore throat too. I think it's because they would not let me moisten my mouth at all until over 24 hours after the surgery. That is when I was first able to get my throat swabbed.

In addition to the sre throat I am now getting a serious headache. I am not hungry on fluilds only but this headache is feeling like the ones you get when you are hungry. Is it a carb or sugar withdrawel?

OK, Im new here... Going to be banded on May 11th (woo hoo). My concern is .... did they wake you up AFTER they took the tube out of your throat? I'm afraid I'm going to FREAK OUT if I wake up and I can't swallow or talk.

I am 7 days post op. I didnt even know they were going to put a tube in. I wondered why my throat was sore. Yes they took it out while I was asleep. It went away after about three days.

For the headache, my doctor told me to drink Gatorade to get a little bit of sugar. I wasnt hungry at all the first week. I had to force myself to sip on gatorade and apple juice to get in some sugar and calories.

Hope this helps.

Cheryl S.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
