I was sleeved yesterday around 3:00 pm. I have been in severe pain since. Very time I try to get up, I am nausea as hell, than I start getting gag like symptoms and threw up blood once! So I have not been able to walk, just to bathroom and back. As anyone else had similar problems?

That sounds miserable :( I hope the docs can give you some proper pain meds and check your sleeve for leaks again etc.

Are you taking anti-nausea medicine? I was getting anti-nausea medicine through my IV right after surgery.

Are you still in the hospital? If so, what did the nurses say? If not, just give your doc a call. It's pretty normal to feel bad when you have 85% of your stomach cut out, especially 12 hours post op. Not sure about vomiting blood, but that's something your surgeon is going to want to know.

I was on anti-nausea meds for at least 24 hours (it may have been longer, I slept most of the first day except when they woke me for vitals) after surgery. It's one of the first things I remember saying coming out of anesthesia: "I feel nauseous"

Definitely let your doc know about vomiting blood.

I was sick to my stomach for the whole 3 days I was in the hospital. didn't have much pain but they tried many different drug to control my nausea. After 3 days it was gone. Never threw up blood though.

My very first memory when I woke up from surgery was feeling sick, then throwing up a lot of blood. I heard my nephew and friend talking about it and the nurses told them it was natural. Because my stomach was just operated on, there is blood in it. I had issues with the pain meds making me severely nauseous. They quickly learned I had to had a anti nausea chaser immediately after pain meds or I would get sick. My pain wasn't too bad after the first night. I ached, and had the left side pain from the drain. Once the drain came out life got much better much faster! LOL

I was sleeved a week ago today, and the first night I vomited blood 3 times, And at least twice more while I was there. They told me it was not terribly uncommon and they continued to monitor my blood count. It was a little better once I got off of the pain pump. And they also added phenergan in between my zofran. Hope you feel better.

Hi. I am 10 days post op and I went through the same thing. I could barely stand up to go to the bathroom.. Everything was spinning and I felt sooo sick. The nausea lasted 3-4 days and I treated it with zofran. And Water is still the hardest thing for me to drink. I have to put crystal light in it or it makes me gag. Every day gets easier. Hang in there!

Same here. I can't drink Water without crystal light. And it doesn't take much and I am full!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
