Welcome @@TheNewJulie! There are about 25 of us on bariatricpal that were sleeved on June 30. Can you believe it'll be two weeks tomorrow? I am doing pretty well- no longer need pain meds, able to sleep comfortably on my side now, and going back to work tomorrow. I am a little worried about getting my Protein and liquids in at work but I will try to keep to a schedule so I don't lose track. I am on purees until the end of July. How's everyone doing?

Hi all, it's been a few weeks! LOL.

I'm doing GREAT! Still on Clear Liquids since June 30 surgery. I start full liquids Wednesday.

I'm exhausted from no Protein and have bad insomnia but otherwise I'm good.

TODAY'S THE DAY: It's been two weeks since surgery (band + plication) and I start "soft" foods today and I'm terrified. As much as the liquid diet was revolting (after two weeks), at least it put me in some "control" -- how much weight can you get on liquids? -- and it limited my choices. Now, starting today, I can eat a lot of the foods I loved: fish, cheese, chili, burgers -- I'm not saying I will eat all that (and I have to stay away from carbs totally), but I'm not quite confident in myself yet. I'm going to pop by an OA meeting today (my 2nd -- my doctor is a big believer in them -- anything that keeps you mindful, I guess) and is insistent on writing all the foods down (he's a big fan of the app "My Fitness Pal" -- oh, and today's the day I start exercise (Jane Fonda, I'm on my way). So it's a scary day for me. Is there a point to this? Yup: Others must be in the same boat as me, since we all had our surgery at the same time. So...how are you handling it emotionally? Thanks for your help and support.

Hi everyone... I was sleeved on 6/30 as a revisional surgery from lap band. I was banded back in 07 and did fairly well started 303 and mantained between 188 and 198 for 6 years. This last year I have had some heavy complications with the band balooned up to 241lbs which led to me being sleeved. I am very excited to have had this surgery and look forward to the journey... What a complete difference this has been. Today I am two weeks and started purees... I haven't had much success with many of the Soups so I have had mixed feelings... excited to eat something with real taste and scared that nothing will sit right. Well my choice was to have a lil pack of hummus mixed with a lil pesto... ummm I am not sure this is sitting right and I barely got half of the 2oz in... I can't wait to see my doc tomorrow cause I hate the thought of living on shakes lol

Hi folks. I was sleeved on 06/30. SW 316. I have been stalled out at 296 for the last 5 days now, but I'm not sweating it. I am really really sick of the liquid diet though. It's easy to adhere to when I'm at work...but when I get home around the family in the evening, it's torture. My docs plan has me liquid up to day 28 and then days 28-42 on purée. So the last few days I have snuck a couple of bites of soft foods in. I had a bite of pizza last night and learned my lesson on that one - it did not sit well at all. I also was having bad stomach cramps, but started taking a PPI and that helped immensely. So otherwise doing well!

Started Week 3 Soft/Pureed Foods today and everything is going great. I've been fortunate to have a great recovery with absolutely no problems. No trouble getting the little bit of soft food down that my sleeve will hold and don't go beyond the bite when I know my sleeve is filled. It's really good to eat something somewhat solid after 3 weeks of liquids. Was down 23 pounds (25% of excess weight) one week post op and not weighing again until one month follow up with Dr. Wagner. Not really county calories since I can only eat small amounts at meal time anyway and eating the right foods when I do eat. Hope everyone else is doing well.

I am also June 30! Today I start the pre-op diet of Protein Shakes mixed with Water and clear liquids..having my "last meal" in a few hours! 27 in Houston, TX but having my surgery in Raleigh, NC. My cousin is the patient liaison for a Bariatric surgeon there (who did her lap band 3 years ago) and she trusts him implicitly. I trust her implicitly and so I will have him do her surgery and she will help me recover there for the two weeks following. I am having the sleeve. :-)

How are my June 30th friends doing? I MAY have broken my stall and lost 1lb overnight. I ate 3 saltine crackers yesterday and that was the best thing ever and didn't hurt my tummy at all.

Almost anything else I eat, no matter how small seems to make me want to throw up after a few minutes, but I never actually do, just get that nauseas feeling.

It is so weird to not really crave food or be hungry. I have moments, of course, but in general, I am so glad I did this!

I'm doing great! I've been able to keep all my food down. And I've stuck to the puree diet faithfully. I have noticed that cold items really cramp my stomach do I've been avoiding those. I got 3 days of walking in last week and this week I hope tho increase to 4 days. I'm definitely feeling low in energy tho. I have about 2 good days and then my body just wants to sleep. I weigh myself tom and I'm hoping for a good number ;-) I hope everyone b else is doing good.

Hi friends. Yeah I am down 26lbs so far. I am really craving normal food. Not so much that I am hungry - more I just want to participate with my family and live like a normal person. I feel like I am on a really tough diet right now. I have been low energy, so I am going to get Vitamins tomorrow. Otherwise all is good! Clothes are fitting well. I exercised today and that felt good.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
