HELP! 13 da ys post op scated im stretching my new stomach

Morning, I'm 13 days post op I had gastric sleeve surgery on May 12th, as of yesterday I was able to finish 3 cups of soup not at one sitting but throughout the day. I'm very concerned others I have spoken with have said they have only been able to get in a few tablespoons here or there. Please help me I'm still in the semi liquid stage and I think I may be consuming too many liquids please respond with your experience in the first few weeks of your surgery. Also, I am only down 4 lbs. I need your help desperately, I don't want to stretch my new stomach.

Hey there.

Liquids are going to pass through your sleeve quickly and allow you to take in a fair amount of them. Think of them like your Water - which under my plan is at least 2 liters a day.

My NUT provided a useful analogy to a similar concern - think of your new sleeve as a funnel. Liquids will filter through it fairly quickly while semi solids and solids less so.

Sounds normal to me, wouldn't be worried - its a journey.
