Was wondering from the group, what is the average time from initial consultation to surgery? Please don't count insurance delays, just curious on a timeline.

Thanks

2.5 years. Yes, my Dr still had my records from my first visit, that long ago. I asked and he said it was not uncommon for patients to try again on their own after an initial consult. After I truly decided and went back in, it was 3 months from consult to surgery. My insurance required 3 month monitoring and I had my first weight loss consult that same day as well. My BMI was just at the required amount for no secondary conditions, but I also had high blood pressure as an additional factor.

It took me 4 months *from consultation to surgery* I had my Consult end of January and surgery is tomorrow.

It depends though on what your insurance requires. I only had to do 2 months with the NUT and 2 months medically supervised diet. I could have had Surgery end of April but couldn't take the time off work until May.

I had my first consultation with my surgeon on April 17th. My surgery is scheduled for June 2nd. So it took about a month and a half. Not too bad at all :)

I went for a consult 1/20 and had things been properly documented then I would have been 4/28- I needed more weigh ins because of that and ended up with a 5/27 date. I think it all depends on ur insurance and how long they require u to be involved in the program. Mine required 3 months

I could have scheduled my surgery ealier - probably Late April / Early May but I had a pre-sechduled business trip and a college graduation to get through in early - mid May - so we elected to wait until the end of the month,

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
